If you have Mac OS X & N80 and would like to play your *legally* downloaded DIVX files fullscreen on it - this is how I got mine to work- as most of the convertors I've seen have been Windows only.
I took a 25min American Sitcom 175MB and converted it to a ----> 60.9MB file playable full screen with sound and no drop out through realplayer on my N80. Using:
N80 on 3 (FW V.3.0618.0.2 23-05-2006)
Mac mini (OS X10.4.6) with Quicktime Pro 7.1.1
(not sure if you need pro or not??)
*Pictures to follow*
Open your Divx or similar file in Quicktime
Goto File and pick Export (Applekey E)
(In the export option drop down) Pick Movie to Mpeg-4 *click options*
Under Video: I used these settings:
File Format MP4 (not MP4 ISMA) Video H.264
Data Rate 336 worked fine (I've been told you can go upto 384) kbits/sec
Image Size 320x240 QVGA Frame Rate 15
Key Frame Every 24 Frames
Click Video Options (click baseline) and single pass.
Audio: AAC LC (music) Data Rate 64 Channels: Stereo
Output Sample Rate: 44.100kHz Encoding Quality: Good
*didnt touch the streaming tab*
Pick OK
and then just pick to save it to your desktop
Tried and tested- and works fine. Will get back to the forum on the battery consumption question!
Also - I set it up to recode overnight whilst I slept - so Im not 100% of how long it took to recode the file to the new settings.
I'm not saying this is the best way to do this on a mac, nor do I know if these are the optimal settings BUT what I do know now is that this is *one way* you can do it AND IT WORKS! and anyone with a mac and an N80 should be able to do it!
If anyone can refine the process or give mac movie conversion tips - please chip in! Hope this helps some of you.
