those are mine - i think they are optimal for quality and file size - its v good quality 3gp with aac stream - its really great especially for music videos, or movies, cos of great sound quality 😊 enjoy ;D

Thanks for those settings. Works a treat.

I was playing for hours trying to get an MPEG4 Container and H264 or some other content. But it was failing for large files.

But this setup seems to work great.

Out of interest, whats a typical file size for say, 22 minutes? Im getting 77 Meg, even using I think 64kbps for audio, 15fps, and even less bitrate for video than you have. Im figuring I could maybe drop a little more on video quality.

Cheers
Simon

No problem😊 i think this filesize is ok, 3gp with quality like that has to be as big as this, 'cos 3gp is format with not so great compression ability due to using it in many different cellulars, often with weak processors. of course you can try to lower settings, but i dont think it is the good idea, because you get much worse quality, which is the main factor of watchin' anything on our brilliant phone 😊
there are two ways - one to buy smartmovie and watch divx (but im not sure if divxs are much smaller?) or buy a bigger memcard :P anyway - good luck 😃

Those settings you all posted should work but the problem is you are recommending the lower quality MPEG4 H.263 /3GP codecs which are great as they work but why use them when the N80 supports the higher quality MPEG4 H.264 Codec.

Try these settings and let me know if the quality isnt better

Output Container = mp4(MPEG-4)
Output Video Codec = H.264/AVC
Output Audio Codec = AAC

----------------
{ Video Settings }
----------------

Video Scale Size = 320x240
Frame/Sec = 15
Bitrate kbs = 336

-------
[Options]
-------

Hi Quality = Checked
H264 Profile = Baseline 1.2

----------------
{ Audio Settings }
----------------

Sampling Freq = 44100
Channels = 2
Bitrate = 64 (or higher)

Audio settings are pretty much anything goes but video settings are difficult to get right but you could experiment with higher bitrates see if they work for you.

The resolutions might be smaller but the motion is more smoother with no frame dropping and greater detail.

Let me know how you get on

that converts to MP4.. but smartmovie and DivX player will not scan for MP4... suggestions?

MP4 works perfectly with the default Real Player, so use that instead.

S.

Just in case anyone has the same problem as I did:

SUPER wouldn't complete any encodes at all, just kept giving me "ERROR!" and it turned out it by default it was trying to output the file onto my D: drive which had an audio CD in it that obviously wouldn't be overwritten.

A simple right click anywhere in the main window gives you the option to redirect the output file onto your C: or anywhere else...

All working fine now

...on my N80 with v 4.063.0.41

This phone seems very 'fastidious' regarding playback of video. The thing won't even play .mp4 if the settings are not exactly the way it pleases.

Any suggestions how to convert video proper for N80? Any software that can play .wmv for example?

Thanks.

Jus tried them settings on my N80 with v 4.063.0.41 and they worked perfectly

Post a screenshot of your Super window and i see if i can spot any mistakes in your settings.

I can't get SUPER to encode in widescreen/16:9 format. Everything comes out stretched 4:3. Must have tried everything :con?

If someone could point me in the right direction I would be most greatfull. I do not want the files croped/streched. I want original aspect with black bars top & bottom on my N80 😊
