Convert MPEG2 to MP4

Hi,

I see my favourite DVDPlayer hasn't been released yet. Never mind.

So Im trying to convert my MPEG2 files (ie, video captures of my holiday movies) 🙄 to a suitable format.

DivX is currently out the question, so it looks like MP4?

So...

PocketDivXEncoder - Great, Fast, Does not support generating MP4's and it's settings are severely limited.

Omniquitti Lathe - Based on the above. Great, not quite as fast, but a lot of settings. But the only MP4 solution is for iPods, where you just cannot break out of the 320x240 resolution.

VirtualDub2 - While capable of producing great files, with the right FourCC Code, seems not to create MP4s, while there is an MP4 plugin! Argh.

ImToo MP4 Video Converter gave me terrible lip sync

Im just trying SUPER, the first download was corrupted! Just noticing though, the progress bar "starts" over. So it's not a good indication of how far it is through the file! So far LipSync is good, but it's not liking H264, even after setting for 1.2. H263 works. I tried coding a 5 minute file. Fine. I tried coding a 30 minute file, I get the error in Quicktime "Error -2041: an invalid sample description was found in the movie." and it won't play in the phone.

MediaCoder seems pretty good. A bit haphazard, but it is still beta. I detest having to save my files as 3GP's though. I can't just use the settings I give to make an MP4 container. But when all else fails, this works.

Im wondering if there's anything else. Any work arounds for VirtualDub? PocketDivX, Lathe, Super? What am I doing wrong? Anything else I can try without buying?

Any other thoughts? I've had a look at the S60 Multimedia Blog (thanks to links on this forum), but was unable to do H264 using Super.

Cheers
Simon

I've gone through the options? That's annoying.

Im still hoping for Lathe, or PocketDivXEncoder, the best, providing the settings are there. SUPER outputs files that are too large for my liking, but they're in sync, which is the main thing.

MediaCoder is looking very promising. But sometimes it messes up file conversions giving artefacts and blocky pixels over the screen.

Time to wait then...

Cheers

what are e61 settings for mediacoder? i reach the end of the film, and the file is corrupt every time. i click on properties and it won't show. every file joins with the same settings. i don't know shit about this, i just want to use what works. not having to fiddle. I change the fps to 25, go through joining, and by 1hr 5 mins it finishes early and end up with a corrupted file. perhaps i will just post a cheque to someone, and they will do it?? tired of this.
