Unable to back up my N80 with PC suite

Whenever I try to backup my N80, I get this error at about 1% of the process;

"Connection to the phone was lost. Please reconnect and restart backup"

I'm using the latest PC Suite version and I'm pretty sure the cable is securely connected. I also tried this using my laptop and I get the same error. Anybody else experiencing this?

I have the EXACT same problem. Tried uninstalling, cleaning with their Registry Cleaner, Rebooting, Reinstalling and removing battery from phone etc. Same problem.

Then I tried on another PC system and still the same problem.

Also tried without antivirus and firewall (exited those) and still the same problem.

Called and spent 3 hours with Nokia Support on the phone and still unable to solve it.

Using latest Nokia PCSuite with Nokia N80 and with latest firmware at this date.

i had similar problem with the data suite that came with the fone, i then uninstalled this and downloaded the software from the nokia website and now it works a treat, i have had nokias for the last 10 years and never really got the data suite to work but now it works 100%

Well, You have donne all possible. Do you have software installed in phone?

Yes, I have installed other software in my phone. Is there anything wrong with installing software?

The thing is that only the Backup feature of the PC Suite is not working. Everything else works fine.

Are you using an N80? What firmware are you using?

Its possible. A corrupt file, in result of un installation, could do the damage. Uninstall one by one, an see what happens.

Still having the same problem and I don't have the time to uninstall/reinstall all of my programs.

What I'm thinking is to backup my phone memory to my miniSD and then backup the whole content of the miniSD to my PC with my card reader. Will this restore my phone to its current state if ever I need to reset my phone?

But, if is a software problem, even after, when is time to do the restore again, could appears the same problem. Try!

Make I know yours? Maybe we can isolatethe problem if we remove the apps we have in common.

Just dowloaded the latest Pc Suite release 6.81.13.0 (released aug 3) and the problem is fixed. Guess it was a pc suite problem after all. 😊

Yes, the 6.81.13 version of the PC suite works for Backup now!!

So, it was their software bug all along!

And in their release notes, they claim an ActiveX vulnerability.... no mention of fixing bugs.
