N80 poor signal

Over the last few days I have been unhappy with the signal my N80 has been getting so I decided to test it against my 6680.

I went to my work place and checked the signals all through the day and was shocked to see my N80 out of signal most of the day constantly switching between (2G - 1bar) and (3G - 0bar). My 6680 was fine most of the time on (2G 3-4 bars)

When my N80 only had 1 bar of signal my 6680 right next to it had 3-4 bars of signal.

Anyone else getting poor signal with their N80 or should I just return mine for another?

Maybe its something that can be improved in the next firmware release, I know they did it with the sendo x, it improved a little, but the sendo was just a crap phone anyway

Hi, nice forums you have here.

I too used to own a 6680 on o2 and could use it at home without a problem (would usually stay on about 2 bars) then i had a upgrade to an N80 on o2, and I have to say the reception is awfull on the N80 I need to go outside to use it as a phone, I have changed the settings to GSM mode but this achieved nothing. I hope this gets fixed soon because the phone is useless in poor reception areas.

I agree, at home I would normally get 1 or 2 bars on my N70, on the N80 nothing!

I found that if I switched from Dual to GSM mode it helped slightly

I find the N80 is fine in areas of good reception, but at home, I get one bar signal indoors and full reception outside. My N70 used to have 3 bars inside.

Apart from that, it's a fantastic handset...!

I have the same problem with my N80 on Vodafone... it fluctuates alot its very annoying..

My D500 wasnt good..but this is even worse.. i just hope it gets sorted!!

Me too. Just sent mine back cos I can't operate with a phone with no signal. I had my 6630 and N80 side by side. 6630, usual 1 to 2 bars in workplace (rubbish as it is). N80 - nowt.

For all it's good features I'm gonna be spending the majority of my time in my office so it's a no-no for me.

Plus the slider was crappy too - so I'll wait awhile and see what happens.

Shame - it was a cracking little phone.

Just got the N80 on O2..Signal strength is bad.....I can get 2 bars at work in a room with no windows and lead lined walls...on my 6600...and nothing on the N80..I called O2...they even tried replacing the phone thinking it might be a bad piece....but no go!!...still no signal.

Just got an N80 on O2. bad signal strength all around

My 6600 works great at my workplace....I get 2 bars atleast in a room with lead lined walls and no windows...But the N80 has nothing.

O2 tried replacing the handset.thinking it might be a hardware problem..but no use!....still no signal..

Same here, i find my reception is poor compared to my 6680. Also when im on the phone to people i can hear them perfectly but they say im really cracking up etc.

I am seriously gettin pissed off! Dont get me wrong, i love the phone and its features are great but these little errors, well reception quite a big error but, i am seriously thinking about sending it back and getting an Sony Ericsson K800i...

I have had the phone about a month on Orange new 18 month contract, how do i get a K800i instead? is it quite easy to sort out or are they arsey about it and you have to beg?

Anyone got K800i?:con? :con? :con?

Ahh...dunno abt orange...but i think they have some policy abt changing the phone if ur not happy...and i think its 14 days....but hey give them a call....

Im waiting for a call about exchanging mine for a different handset. Does anyone know if the n91 suffers from the same problem ?
