My new N80 and Network Dilema

3 replies · 2,097 views · Started 03 July 2006

I have just got the N80 on '3' on the WT&T700 tariff, not having used a '3' phone before. But my 3G signal at work keeps switching between 3G and GSM with the potential for lost calls each time it switches (often). I also don't like the restricted internet access using the 3G connection (WiFi connection gives me full access to the web) so I am thinking of returning the phone within the 14 days.

My understanding of reading other posts is that on '3' I cannot lock to a GSM signal (I am not keen on using a generic firmware).

My dilema is should I use another network and if so which one and what are the drawbacks of each one (Other than the deals are not as good)

Would I be able to lock to a gsm signal on orange / vodaphone etc

Are there any limitations on which websites I can access on other networks?

Thanks for your time

This 3 issue seems to be quite a big problem, unless 3 release an upgraded firmware version to resolve this issue I would send the phone back and switch to another network, not sure which you should use though.

What firmware have you got, there seems to be a 3 firmware around here somewhere that may be a newer version than what you have.

I have the following

V3.0618.0.2
23-05-06
RM-92
Nokia N80 (45.02)

Is it best to buy direct or should I buy from the internet e2save and OSPS have resonable cash back deals on vodaphone at the minute

Looks like you have the latest from 3,

Not sure about whats the best deal for you though, I think only you can answer that because you know what you require.
