Tips for my N70?

Hi, greatings to the forum. After installing and configuring my N70, it doesn't work as fast as at the beginning (it goes quite slower). How can I make the menus and programs work faster? For me, Symbian it's a new world.

Is it useful to utilize less heavy themes or it doesn´t matter the volume (in kb.) of these? Does It have infuence the volume and speed of the memory card? Do I defragment it like with Windows? Is it the same to install themes and programs in the memory card or in the ram of telephone? What temporal files can I delete? Thanks for any useful advice.

Hope you can help me.Best regards. See you.:ciao:

Use light themes; all instalations only in memory card; time to time, use a defrag program from windows, to defrag the memory card and dont (avoid) intallation of memory resident programs like Clocks, Reminders and stuff related. Mine N70 works just great, with a 1Gb Card.

Defragmentation on a memory card doesn't bring up any performance increases. MMCs are solid state, as opposed to hard disks, where you have moving heads that take time to move from one place to another in the case of a fragmented drive. On a MMC read operations are done instantly wherever the fragments are located, so defragging is just a waste of time.

Got a 1gb card myself, never did a format and never had issues about the slowlyness of the phone

I admit symbian is slow but my Nokia 6600 was noticable slower then my N70
I keep aswell everything (or as much as possible) on my MMC to keep the phone memory as clean as possible.

Symbian slow? What planet are you living on? If you use a Symbian OS phone properly (i.e. not closing every app every time), switching to other apps is instantaneous.

The ONLY things I can think of that are slow on the N70 are Gallery (large images, etc) and reading emails.

Can I humbly put forward my own N70 tips page here?

Upgrade it's firmware. I heard the lastest firmware makes the phone perform a lot more quicker.

EDIT: That tips page is very helpful 😉

UPGRADE that firmware via the nokia on-line tool!!!

The old firmware is nothing short of god awful and slow as s**t 😡
