Does anyone know how to check where your phone came from?

Went to a Nokia service centre today to get my dead N80 reflashed, and he told me I wasnt entitled to support in Europe as the phone originally came from Saudia Arabia, he showed me a screen with the details, think he found this via the serial number.

Just wondering if there is any way we consumers can check this, or does only nokia know this info.

Got my phone from an online shop, and told them about this, they seemed pretty suprised. Guess some of their suppliers are playing import/export games.

go to www.nokia.co.uk and click the clubnokia link
there's a link called check-phone and if your handset isn't european the IMEI number will not be in the database and you will be told this
hope this helps...
