OK..I'm using profimail, but it was also nice to have my gmail auto retrieve once every 2 hours, since it doesn't suck up so much battery compared to profimail. After finding out that gmail change its server name from gmail to googlemail, I was able to get it working, but now i'm not only getting the "untrusted site" error message, but my port won't stayed to the number I change it too, it would revert back to the default port for pop and smtp.
but its no biggy, just wondering if you guys ran into this problem and know the fix.

I have the same trouble with gmail about the untrusted certificate and when trying to setup the account settings, I remember I had troubles while setting the ports. But it's working now. What I didn't know is that gmail changed the name of the server. I have gmail.com and works... I readed somewhere that there is a way to install certificates in the mobile phone, in order to avoid the certificate meessage, but I have not been succesful yet.
I had the same problem and found a blog about how to solve this stuff but I dont have the link anymore.. I sold my old 6680 and again I have the same trouble with auto polling of gmail..
So if someone finds out a solution please let me know..

LATER EDIT: I just found that link on google.. It worked for my N80 and it also worked for my 6680 so it might work on Eseries too.
