I am still ahving a few problems even though I have changed the handset twice can anyone tell me if they have similar problems and how to solve them. List as follows.
1. Phone switches off and then reinstalls
2. Loud sound on occasional calls either calling out or receiving sound is similar to old dial up modem noise
3. Cannot remove an installer from applications
4. ON restart phone tries to install a program from the memory card but says 'untrusted software on card install from application manager'. Message not exactly as this but close enough.
I cannot tell which program it says it is trying to iinstall so do not know what to delete.
Firmware is the latest.
I am loath to take the phone back until I know what is the problem.
Memory card is 1Gb Kingston from Mymemory, any known issues?
Any help would be appreciated.
Neil
Sorry neil, I dont have any of those problems, except I had the phone switching off occasionally before, but that hasn't happened for a long time..
If it is the memory card the easiest way to check this is to take it out for a few hours and see if the problem reoccur.
The sound on the line is a wierd one, haven't heard that before - could this be an operator issue (does it happen in the same cell etc etc.)
4. You might be abl to fix this by turning certification needed to off in the app manager settings. (sorry can't remember the exact phraseology).

Thanks for your replies.
With regard to the noise I have only noticed it in the same area around my office so maybe cell.
I am concerned it was memory card so was trying to backup card but it does not seem to backup all my contacts?
Will try reverting to original memory card for a while
Keep crossing fingers.

hey Neil, u can try to back up all ur contacts, and do a soft format to ur phone here is the code
*#7370# it solved lots of stuff of my phone now my phone has good performance
Your contacts should be stored on your internal memory - not your memory card. Sync'ing to the PC is a good way to back up contacts. Otherwise consider using on of the online SyncML solution to backup contacts.
Noise - it might still be the phone, but the fact it isn't happening elsewhere suggests it could be the local cell. Maybe worth contacting your operator.
Thanks for you replies.
2 questions
1. What does a soft format change i.e. does it actually delete data
2. What is an online SyncML solution
Please excuse naivity just like to be sure.
