Battery Life & GPRS Connection

Hi folks, I've just taken delivery of my new Nokia N80 in the last few days and have been reading some of the posts on here about extending the battery life and turning off applications that zap the power.

What I couldn't find is how to turn the GPRS to 'only when needed'. I have searched through the old posts and looked in my manual but I can't find it. Can anyone tell me exactly how to do this?

Any other tips that I should try to extend my battery life?

well, the whole point of GPRS is that it gives you an "always on' connection. The only other options for connectivity are UTMS or dual mode, both of which are battery killers. I get only a full day use with the latter whilst with the normal GPRS setting 2 and a half days of normal useage which is not too bad. I then only use 3G when downloading bigger files or web browsing. I think you'd be better off personally just leaving it on normal GSM {GPRS} and then switching to UTMS when needed.
To improve battery life try turning off bluetooth when not needed and for email just download headers only initially. 😊

Settings --> Connection --> Packet Data --> When Needed
