Just to let you know there is a petition on the Nokia.co.uk forum to try get Nokia to do something about the battery (I know its probably like getting blood out of a stone). When there are a significant amount of signatures then it will be emailed to Nokia
If anybody with battery problemswants to pop over there to sign, or anybody else as a sign of solidarity, the link is

It seems the moderators of the Nokia forum dont actually like us starting a petition on their forum and have suggested we dont add to the post any more, I think the next step will be to close it down.
Well done Nokia, great to see you allow us the freedon to express our views ...:icon13:
Fredom of speech..Not in the Nokia world ...
That's crappy, and quite un-Nokiaish?
it's strange that nokia is doing such stuff on their forums. i always thought they are better than that.
we can always try to start a petition on www.petitiononline.com/
god knows if it'll work or not, but still worth a try imho.
either way, i sure that nokia is aware of the problem. and may bring out a solution when they are working on a similar product.

Nokia haven't deleted the discussion thread as other companies such as Apple would have done. They haven't even ignored it or closed it (yet). You're still free to add you say to the problem. They simply reminded everybody that the forum was a support forum and not a feedback forum, have provided links to the official feedback channels and advised everybody to use them if they really wanted to be heard. So far, I think that Nokia have handled this discussion thread in a more repectable manner than many other big companies would have done. We still have to wait and see if they eventually acknoledge the problem and provide a fix though.
how about you post the email link and we can all email nokia diretly ourselves.

I hear what you are saying, and as its a support forum I think the thread is helping other people try to make Nokia acknowledge (this is unlikely), do something about the battery problem, or at the least make a short comment saying that they are looking into the problem, I think that would be usefull and supportive information that Nokia can give to the many of us who find the N80 although a great phone, not practical for what it was designed for.
Support in my eyes means support, and the best way to give your customers or end users support is through communications.
As there is no other way to get feedback from Nokia (have you tried notifiying them and getting a responce the way you mentioned), then the only was is with a mass protest.
Do you remember the ipod battery and apple class action lawsuit http://www.macobserver.com/article/2005/06/02.11.shtml I suggest Nokia REALLY take note as I can see with the many dissatisfied customers (and this number is growing) a similar thing may happen with this situation.

May be worth a go, lets see how things go with the Nokia forum thread first, although they have warned about the post, they didint close it down yet, and more people are adding their names to the petition.
I was just thinking, the battery problem reminds me somewhat of the apple ipod battery class action law suit from a few years back, I believe that ended in favour of the consumer and there was a recall of all the dodgy batteries, (cant quite remember the specifics)
I wonder if Nokia would prefer to go down that road if they dont want to sort the battery problem out....
Just a thought !!!!!!!!
