ACS Publisher ID and DevCert reuest tool

Hi all,

I wonder why Symbian Signed wants to have the private key from the
devlopers. I have a ACS Pubilsher ID (.pfx) and exported a (.cer) from
it. When i select this in the DevCertReq tool it tells me to give the
private key to them.
But isn't this what the asynchronous signing is all about? to not give
your private key away?
(At least giving the password does not seem to be mandatory)

So, what's the way for requesting an DevCert (with granted access to
restricted capabilities) without giving the private key away ?

Thank you
b.atrix

The tool requires the private key to validate that you truly own the ACS
Publisher ID that you've specified (otherwise you could specify any
Publisher ID). No private data is actually sent to the Symbian Signed web
site.
