From 6260 to N90 and N93 - Nokia's swiveltastic journey

Steve Litchfield looks at Nokia's fascination with swivelling, flipping transformer smartphones, reports on a week away with the N90 and looks forward to the N92 and N93. Just what can these devices do and can they really replace a dedicated camera or camcorder?

Read on in the full article.

In the article, you mentioned that not all memory cards would do for video capture on the N93. On www.pricerunner.se I found a card called "SanDisk Mini-SD 2GB Mobile Ultra II" (for 800 SEK). I'm guessing that's the one you mean when you say SanDisk Ultra II?

O/T but I'm sorry I just can't resist,

"most people who complain about the N70's speed aren't using it properly."

Made me laugh anyway.

I know what you're digging at, but I'm sorry. If someone goes and spends 400 plus on a multitasking smartphone that's as sophisticated as their desktop computer and then insists on exiting every program after using it rather than switching to the next one, then they deserve everything they get. People are used to multitasking under Windows, why not do the same under Symbian OS?

Steve

Ah, you got me.

I completely agree with your sentiment that it is entirely unrealistic that someone who had never used a particular computer operating system before, such as Symbian, Windows or Mac, could expect to use it in the most efficient fashion.

The question is do most users appreciate this?

The N70 is free with many contracts now and judging by the numbers I see being used it is very popular, but I think there is a big gap between what the handset is capable of and what most people use it for, and when they DO try and use the more interesting features find it a slow and frustrating process.

Anyway, sorry for hijacking the thread.

A bit more ON topic, I am looking forward to the N93, I hope it makes an appearance on TMob and that the video capabilities live up to the billing. Looks like a bit of a monster but if it has UMTS, Wifi AND is a capable video device I may well get one. Any chance of it running service pack 1?
