How to speed up your N80 if its a little slow

For those with a "slow" N80 I just found this tip, I tried it and it does seem to work

If you go into "Log" then "Settings" then turn the log duration down from 30 days to 1 day the phone will speed up considerably

Dont know, I read it in another forum and thought I would give it a go (I like to fiddle with my gadgets)

And it does seem to have speeded up switching between menu's and launching apps etc, unless I am imagining it, which is always a possibility.

Trouble is, I like the log function over a monthly period. :frown: Primarily to track data (to keep a tab on costs) but also useful for keeping a record of missed/incoming numbers, for when you get one you don't recognise/have and then can match it up later.

Indeed, i was most suprised with the max log time.
30 days! it's amazing, allows me to keep good track of all my calls, sent/recieved data and so on, so i can check whether vodafone's charging me right 😃

Not gonna turn down the time limit just yet, but it's still nice to know it can be done 😊 thx.

Btw, Is there a way to give more ram memory to the phone? i mean it has 3 memory "slots" right now: memory card, phone memory AND RAM (which is part of phone memory but is used as applications cache). it's almost impossible to run more than 2 apps at the same time as they run out of memory pretty damn quick!

its been the case in every symbian phone... logs eat the phone memory. always keep them at their lowest level 😊

thanks anyways! im sure most of the N80 users didnt know

could possibly be network specific, I have found chatting here that some networks firmware limits or even removes some functionality of the phone.

I'm with O2...not sure if it's me being a muppet or down to the network?

I get it with Menu > my own > log > options > settings > log duration

Thought so...me being a muppet!!!

Cheers Cash

to save the battery, turn your phone off.
just kidding

thanks for the tip on keeping your log level on low, saves my battery a couple of days

I'm amazed nobody knew about this before, it's been a well known speed trick since the very beginning of Series 60 phones 🙄

hi, just wondering if anyone has tried the 10 day log option and if you get maybe some extra speed, but not as much as the 1 day option. I like to have a log of calls, sometimes they come in handy, a month is far too long, but a day is probly too short.

I tried the 1 day option and noticed a speed increase, but when I changed it to 10 afterwards, it still only had a 1 day log (ie. it wiped the others) so I dont know how the 10 day log compares to the 1 and 30 day logs speedwise. If it makes little/no difference I will stick with the 30 days. 1 day just isnt enough. Bummer they didnt have like a 4, 5 or 7 day log or something, a week would be about perfect me thinks.

I went to the 1 day log and my phone speeded up, but it was too short so now I am on the 10 day log and the phone still seemd as fast, so for me 10 days is still faster than 30 days.

I concurr..
I went from 30 days to 10 days, loaded Opera, menu navigation etc and noticed a difference.
I then went to 1 day and noticed no difference between 10 days and 1 day.
Still slow loading opera though 😞 but a vast improvement on menu navigation.
Thanks!
