I think Nokia will release a phone just after 3650's release on January and this one will replace our 7650s. People talked about a similar topic before but it was mostly about software updates, not a new smartphone.
Anyway... Here's my wishlist for a new Nokia Smartphone based on Series60(or 7650i ... whatever you say)
- More than 16MBs of built-in memory
- MMC/SD slot that allows you to change memory on the fly(i.e. not under the battery)
- Sync Cradle with USB and Serial connectors - just like the iPAQs
- Higher capacity battery - maybe lithium polymer or another thing but not BLB2!!!
- Built-in AudioPlayer/Recorder(supports MP3,WMA and maybe RM)
- Built-in VideoRecorder/Player with sound
- Bluetooth audio profile and stereo bluetooth headset that allows you to listen MP3's in stereo
- Motorized slide - I don't care about the weight
- Voice recognition for text input without using keyboard and menus
- Opera Browser with lower resolution rendering
- Joystick more suitable for gaming
- Louder handsfree speaker/ringer
- Better camera - maybe not a 6 megapixels SLR lens but better camera lens like 3650's.. I don't like the blurry corners and I think nobody likes it either.
- Maybe this one is too much but Siemens included this to the camera for their new phone S55 Built-in lo-power flash for taking pictures at dark places 😉
- Color customization for menus.
- Adjustable backlight, ability to turn off backlight
- Bluetooth/irda picturerframe accessory - that's a "must" accessory for a cameraphone
That would fit my all needs for now. If anything comes into my mind, I'll add. Looking for your replies!
Add-ons
- Longer infrared range to use the device as remote controller - by )
- Longer bluetooth range - by )
Dislikes
- Motorized slide - by 555, )
- Flash - by )
- Motorized slide - I don't care about the weight
there is no need for that, how could that be useful may i ask?
A similiar thread was opened in the 9210 forum discussing the new communicator. It's a nice idea, especially when you see that some of this stuff you suggested actually got adopted in the new phone!
But about the flash, it really eats up battery power, and i dunno about motorized slide, (i think it's too much don't you? 😉)
i would like an improved joystick, not one that would go stubby and short but one that would be really suitable for gaming, (since the possibilty of MMC/SD cards the gaming market would go bull (bull as in up in stock market terms, not as in B.S!! 😃 )
And how about long infra red suitable for using as a universal remote control? just like in the new i PAQ.
And check this out (this would be sweet) Longer Bluetooth, about 30 meteres, that will make many dreams come true 😃

did you see the 8910? it has a really good motorized slide. maybe not very useful but I like the idea of a automatic opening mechanism because everytime I open the keypad, I ask "was it too fast?" to myself.
and.. 😊 :
a small flash would not consume so much battery when you consider the battery life of a regular "point and shoot" camera. and you don't have to use the flash for every picture, right? and I also like the idea of longer infrared and bluetooth range, I will add them to the list with your name so we can build a list which we can submit to Nokia 😉
bluetooth range is dependant on power
the combiination of a USB bluetooth dongle and a mobile phone with low power = short range
if u want a better range, get a pci bluetooth card or something similar
not much way you will get around the low power on the phone side though......make the bluetooth ranger longer will drain the battery
i think they done a not bad job with the bluetooth........remember, a radio network is not magic!!!!!! going through walls deteriorates the signal.#
the only way you get away with mobile phone ranges with what they are is because of the huge mobile phone towers using huge amounts of electricity.
Yes all the ideas listed about +:
Wi-Fi Compatible
Bluetooth Filemanager
Stereo Speakers
A Subwoofer
A projector so you can watch proper movies.
Support for ADSL
a 40GB HD
a Voodoo 4 Graphics Card
Errmmm......A Kitchen Sink (Or make that a Dishwasher, I hate washing up)
Oh, it can't weigh more than 200g and it has to be cheaper than 200 :P
Yeah....and it should have a callgirl button, by pressing it a nice eastern european girl will satisfy your every needs! 😃

Oh, i never knew the 8910 was motorized, i thought it was opened by pressing 2 buttons on the side and depending how hard u press the two buttons controls the speed of the slider, then the phone pops up.
am i missing something or is this what u class as a motorised slide?
sorry but i don't really understand.
The phone pops up by itself and it called motorised slide
or maybe like 7110
but with 8910 it's far far better cos it uses a better mechanism to hold and to open the phone
Well you hold the 8910 from under, and you press to buttons on it, then whoop! the phone slides up, and you can see the keypad and stuff, you are now holding the cover only.
Thank your for cooperating with nokia products, come again soon 😃
Yeah....and it should have a callgirl button, by pressing it a nice eastern european girl will satisfy your every needs! 😃
Better WESTERN. Eastern would be too expensive for you!!
No offense, but eastern are much much beautiful than western!
I agree that they are ( however i have seen beautiful girls in the west as well).
I took your "callgirl" as an offence but I see that I must have misunderstood your words 😊

Oh I understand and apologise...
Callgirls however, exists everywhere west or east!
But Eastern European women are way better! 😃
Sorry west! 😛
Are you making fun of the things I need in a smartphone? I bet you are and this is not kind "I" think.. Here are explanations:
- More than 16MBs of built-in memory - Is it too hard for Nokia to change the memory chip? They did on the 9210, they can do that on 7650 too. Maybe not more than 16mbs but exactly 16 mbs of memory will give this phone a great relief.
- MMC/SD slot that allows you to change memory on the fly(i.e. not under the battery) - Anyone can think about this. Main problem of 3650 is you need to remove the battery for changing MMCs. Since they will add MMC support on the next 7 series phone, an easily accessible MMC slot is a necessity.
- Sync Cradle with USB and Serial connectors This might be hard but not harder than placing MMC slot to the current design.
- Higher capacity battery - Already done in 3650.
- Built-in AudioPlayer/Recorder(supports MP3,WMA and maybe RM) - Software.. There are already examples of MP3 player softwares from PSI NT and Hantro.. If it comes with the phone, nobody will be hurt. Nokia can license the software from the producer just like the HantroCP
- Built-in VideoRecorder/Player with sound - Adding sound is not so hard. Not a hard task to do for a new phone.
- Bluetooth audio profile and stereo bluetooth headset that allows you to listen MP3's in stereo - I don't know if it can be done, just a theory I threw from my a55.
- Motorized slide - It's implemented in 8910 and 8910i, the slide can be redesigned.
- Voice recognition for text input without using keyboard and menus - Only software. Okay, this might be too much but you will see this feature on every device in a few years.
- Opera Browser with lower resolution rendering - This is done on P800(the device you admire more than your favorite pop star), can be done for 7650i(or whatever)
- Joystick more suitable for gaming - Think about it, is it too much? It's done in N-GaGe.. A joystick designed for gaming.
- Louder handsfree speaker/ringer - Only one piece of hardware and some adjustments.
- Better camera - maybe not a 6 megapixels SLR lens but better camera lens like 3650's.. I don't like the blurry corners and I think nobody likes it either. : They use a REAL VGA lens on 3650 and I think it will be on new 7650
- Maybe this one is too much but Siemens included this to the camera for their new phone S55: Built-in lo-power flash for taking pictures at dark places 😉 : You should've seen the S55 camera. It has a flash built in.
- Color customization for menus. - Damn f***in software! It can be implemented easily.
- Adjustable backlight, ability to turn off backlight - It's not very important. But I would like to control my backlight
- Bluetooth/irda picturerframe accessory - that's a "must" accessory for a cameraphone : Just an accessory, sold seperately. I'm waiting for one to place on my desk.
For the wi-fi and other stuff(by Izzo): buy yourself an AlienWare laptop and a backpack.
And for the callgirl button: Not funny :2gunfire:
I did actually start out serious with the Wi-Fi, BT Filemanager etc.....
Wi-FI is already in some HP PPC's, I think it would be excelent to have in a phone.
......After that though, I started going a little over the top, but I assure you that no offence was meant by it. (Same for the Call Girl button)
:P 😃 :P 😃 😃 :P 😃 :P
I was not making fun of you. just adding a bit of fun to the post. i believe your suggestions are good but you are asking to much. nice try though.
Maybe you are all RIGHT and I took those messages too seriously.. But I still insist on that my wishlist is full of "easy to do" stuff which will make this device flawless. Maybe some of the software features can be done by third party products and the software market will keep on growing. But it's nice to have everything built in 😉
No offense, but eastern are much much beautiful than western!
punani is the same wherever is comes from in the world
as long as its clean!

You have to realise that you will never get a "Perfect" phone, there is no sense in Nokia adding all the features you mentioned, all of their other models would suffer from very few sales.
If this did happen you would end up with very little choice, and the phone would be very expensive.
It may seem like a good idea to you, but not at all to Nokia.
I like your idea's cyrus, and i was never taking your ideas not seriouly when i said the flash drains the power. Low power flash is an awesome idea, there's alot of bad lit places i would like to take pictures in! (don't take me wrong! The whole country i am in is bad lit!)
The joy stick is a MUST. (im sick of mine)
and changeable covers would be nice, you don't want to see scratches on your new baby.
What else? im gonna go think for a while.. But as IZZo mentioned, you'll never get a perfect phone (some times i wish i had the hardware and knowledge) but it's nice to see some of what you suggested be there, and all the other stuff you would hopefully find a way around it.
I am Samsung or Panasonic,
I will get my phone built in with all esential software tool, like
File manager,
Task manager,
Video recorder,
Picture MMS editor (Photo -editor )
Clock (Handy clock like)
Today view destktop
Skin enable.
Then I can say than our phone is better than Nokia phone,
because our functionality is better than Nokia phone.
You buy our phone , get all essensial tools.
You buy Nokia phone, you need to paid more for software. 😃 😃 😃

No it's not better than Nokia 7650 cos it's not using Symbian O/s 😃
theres always someone who pops up with the "mine will be better than yours" bit
by the time these phones are mainstream, the new nokia will be out which will be better than your phone. and a few months later another phone will be out which will be better than that etc etc etc etc
ecclesiastical view that may be, but its true
same argument applies for games consoles
whatever, while everyone sits around waiting for these new phones, we are sitting here taking pictures of cute birds and emailing them to ourselves. We are also controlling winamp from the other side of the house over our bluetooth network. Hell, i dread to think what we will be doing in a few months time with this phone.
For all Series 60 owners. There was never a phone and will probably never be a phone with such a large support on what software is concerned. So even if there will be a better phone around (like the P800) there is no software to play with. They might have a better device, but you have more fun 😃
What I would like to have very much is
Be able to set a contact or group of contacts so that when they call they will get busy tone.
