I've looked through to page 14 of this forum and still can't find how to change the sound my N80 makes when a TEXT arrives. I know it's possible because I did find a thread asking what tones people used.
I'm sure I'm missing something obvious - but I've been missing it for too long now, despite heavy manual trawling and menu searching.
Please tell me how to change the noise for incoming TEXTs!

Of fact... I thought that in the OS 9.1 it was special. Is equal to the previous ones... With as much reading which was the difficulty?

I was braced for the insults and I suppose I deserve them. At least it wasn't for lack of trying. ANyway, I now have my answer and another onfirmation that senility is an incraesing problem for me.

No insults at all... Ok. But, no difference in relation to the previous OS.
I have this same question.
I go to Tools>Profiles>Personalise>Message Alert etc, but the only alerts it offers are the standard Nokia ones...I want to make a 20 second mp3 my msg tone...HOW CAN I DO IT!!?? It's really frustrating me as u can prolly tell 😃

The link above tells you how to do it. You have to use nokia PC suite and drop ur new message tone into the folder mentioned. ( c and E being folders on ur phone not ur pc hard drive)
Make sure your desired mp3's are stored in C:\Data\Sounds\Digital or in E:\Sounds\Digital
Then when you go to Menu > Tools > Clock > Settings or Menu > Tools > Profiles you should see the relevant mp3 files appear in the list for selection.

Im obviously being thick, all I get is settings>profiles>message alert> Choose a tone
i have updated to firmware v4 and the options are there when u go to personalise the profile to select any tune, however prior to upgrading firmware i had to drag and drop or copy and past the new file into the folder. see my previous message in this post describing how to do it
yeah thats what mine says but if you scroll through the files you will find that your videos are there too
