OK, I've been using 6260 for almost two years now, and I had no serious problems, but this one is getting serious. The phone sporadically decides to pop a "SIM card failed to register" message. It happens approx. once or twice a day. Now the SIM card is just fine, I had it checked. What could go wrong?
SIM card failed to register?!
A little bit stange... but change the SIM Card. Could be some consuming of the contacts.
My 6260 has same error. When I insert pin code, it doesnt say "code accepted" It just has white screen, then if i wait 20 sec it says "Sim card failed to register". Turning off and then on it works normal on me. I also have the message when i move the battery (just a little, like the phone doesnt get off). But don´t know what is the reason of this message.

I did that, but it's still the same. I guess it's a hardware problem then.

Yes. The other hardware component, the phone!
I have the same problem as you... my 6260 would occasionally show the message "SIM card registration failed" or "SIM card rejected" or the less often but deadlier "Please insert SIM card" followed by "Phone will restart"...
I found that this happens almost everytime phone got knocked... i think the problem is with the battery, because sometimes after I switched off the phone, it won't turn on again if i don't push the battery to the top of the battery slot...
To be honest, I'm quite dissapointed with 6260.. Thinking about getting a new phone soon because my 6260 has become quite useless this way... most of the time it's not receiving signal because sim card registration failed or it has switched off all by itself... a lot of calls has also been disconnected because in the middle of the conversation, the sim card failed to register... i brought it to the nokia SC some time ago... and they say that the phone can not be fixed... quite some product...

Can not be fixed... why? Strange:con?
I also don't know why... I just brought it to the Nokia SC, told the the symptoms and left it there for a couple of days... Luckily they didn't charged me (when I gave them the phone they said that I would be charged for checking even if they found nothing wrong with my phone and did no repair)
Maybe they're ashamed that they cannot fix the phone ? 😃
