MMS Resizing?

1 replies · 1,622 views · Started 18 July 2006

Not sure if this got mentioned or solved already? But anyway, when i recieve picture messages they are resized ridiculously small like the size of your thumb nail. The size of them is about 5-11kb. Ive been on the phone to Orange they took me through sending messages to myself etc etc. and then said the technical team will have to deal with it and CS would get back to me......

He rung me back and said thats the way the Orange network is working at the moment, they are resizing the images because of the type of MMS version they are running and the type of phone i have. I said so its not Nokia its you guys and he said yes. So i was like, when is this going to change and he said theres no def date etc etc. what a pile of shit.

Has anyone experienced the same problem on another network other than Orange? Anyone got the same problem on Orange? But more importantly has anyone got a solution?

I wish i was still with Vodafone, or even 3 for that matter, ORANGE SUCK!

There are two places where MMS images are or can be reformatted:
#1: On the sending device
#2: On the network operators MMSC (MMS center) server/gateway

On S60 devices the user/sender can influence #1: Messaging > Options > Settings > Multimedia message > Image size

Only the operator can control what happens for #2 (they can configure their MMSC to compress/reformat pictures, the level of compresson/reformatting they do, or not do it at all).

Note that also on a device with a large resolution display with very small pixels (e.g., the N80) the exact same image might look as if it is smaller than on another device with physically a similar size display, but one having a lower resolution and larger pixels size (e.g., an N91).
