The way it normaly goes is we give Moderatorship to someone that has shown that they have played a valuable part in the community, like the Muffster.
Also we don't thrust it upon people, they have got to want to do it of course.

I'm not a admin/mod but i can tell you one thing (From my personal expirience,i'm one of the people incharge of Local LUG),admin/mod is a title that cant be begged or asked for.It has to be worked for.I'm sure that if any of you would be prooven worthy of the title you would be considered by AAS admins for the position.
That wasn't what i meant Ghost Dog. 😊 I'm not saying that being a mod is just for the name, then you go around doing nothing, i try my best to make this forum a better place (in the limited time that i am online) by helping out as much as i can.
Hope Admins are satisfied with my performance, but i do have a life you know, school work and stuff. But i do my best.

This ins't the definitive answer but here goes.
Mods can be theoretcially created by four people - the senior admins (myself Izzo, Dazler and Ewan), however only Izzo and myslef are really active in this.
Most decisions of this kind are discussed by at least two admins, and for the most part I'm consulted (actually I'm bad as I create mods without consulting people sometimes).
Mods are asked to be mods, asking to be a mod might help, but generally we have to have been considering you before for it to work. There's no set framework for this.
Generally the sort of person we ask has been an asset to the forums. This menas they've helpful to others or contributed in some way, they've also been around for a while and our respected members of the community. However good you are getting angry or breaking the spirit (or letter) of the forum rules will definetely count against you. Mods also generally have to believe in the philosophy of the site (openess and the well known you know what issues).
Once a mod you have to be reasonably active (although we're all doing this part time) so we all have off and of busy periods and all go away ocassioanlly. There are exception to this of course! Of course you have to keep within the rules and be nice to people. Thing is its just as easy to uncreate a mod as it is to create a mod.
One final point please dont ask directly to be a mod. Its rather embarasssing for me if I have to say no and say why. Just because you're not a mod it doesn't mean I dont value your contribution - we can't all be mods. As I'm sure the mods will tell you the benefits are small and the work can be irritating at times (abuse etc.). That said I'm very glad for all the mods. They help me greatly, this place wouldn;t be same without them and people would do well to remember that sometimes!

i completely understand where you're coming from rafe and i just want to say again that the way you're running this show is really great. i never meant to ask you directly, even if i was told i could (should) do so and so played around by my post asking. i thank you for being stright forward and for responding. as i also want to thank ghostdog for saying what he said - at least he had the time to respond. it's just funny i was hoping for a response from some other people but never got any. mod or not i love this forum and im staying.

I would believe that MOD or NEWB, we are all essential to this forum. I think that as members of the forum, each of us should know our own responsibilities. Besides being a MOD takes a lot of courage to fulfill their responsibilities. Life is easier to be just a plain member. Still, as plain members, I think that it's our responsibility to check on our MODS as well. This is to keep the balance of the force.
