New MMC Memory for N70

3 replies · 1,430 views · Started 20 July 2006

I just purchased a new Kingston 2GB MMC Module for my phone.
If I put the new memory in the phone it registers fine, new pictures and videos are also saved there with no problems.

When I do a restore from my pc, the moment I go into Inbox to check if my messages are restored I get a message "Unable to access mem. card. Messages will be stored to the phone memory" and then all my sms's are deleted.

Has anyone experienced this problem, how have you managed to sort it out?

I am currently running firmware version : V3.0546.2.3 RM-84

There are many threads here (and elsewhere) on memory card problems and several discussing the maximum size that can be used with the N70 - 2GB have just come out, I understand.

These appear to be available from Kingston and MobyMemory and 1GB from many others (including Nokia, so can assume this is OK). The other main discussion is on read/write performance to e.g. write at sufficient speed to allow the video function to work at specified frame rate (15fps?).

There was a 'review' group who tested but I'm not sure if there were conclusive results on what to buy and what to avoid (can anyone post?). Also, I have not seen comments on the SanDisk cards (which at least are a big brand name), like Kingston.

Hopefully, one of the experts will chip in!

I spoke to our support guys at Nokia and according to them they haven't tested the 2GB module, but I agree with you, if Nokia is punting a 1GB module that runs on the N70 then I'm sure the Kingston module will run perfectly.
