Anyone know how I can get the feed/streaming address for the golf so I can use real player outside in the sun.

I can access the website on the n80 but I don't see the live link as I do on my computer.

Thanks.

James

do search here, this type of thing has been discused several times before

I think its impossible at the moment to stream to the N80 from bbc websites because it displays on the webpage and not in realplayer, only way to do it is to have your computer hooked up to your antenna or sat box etc with a TV card and use something like Orb and stream via that.

Unless anybody knows different

I haven't tried it, but as James said I imagine if you can get the address of the feed (the one that ends in .rm or similar) then I would have thought you would be able to open it and stream it in Realplayer - this is all Orb does anyway so I would imagine it is the same.

I agree, find the stream and type it in.
I'm not sure if there is a difference between Real on the phone and Real on computer tho. I tend to avoid Real when I can.

But yeah, as per James's original question - I've had a quick look on the BBC and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to determine the address of the feed... maybe you can look in the source code of the window and see if the embedded feed address is anwhere in the text?

EDIT:

Just had a look try this:

"http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsa/n5ctrl/sport/sport_web/bb/rm/video/sport_sting.ram" (minus the quotes)

Haven't got wifi at work so can't check to see if it'll work, but I reckon there's a good chance it will. Try opening it in realplayer directly, and if that doesn't work try opening it in the web browser. I'll give it a go when I get home, could be a winner.

Well that was an interesting experiment. The first half was getting the link in to the N80, once I had done that, unfortunatly it didnt work.

It played the BBC intro, but only the audio, not the video, and never moved on to any golf. I don't know if the BBC has anything to send tho. I'll try some other streams in a bit.

LesLesleyson wrote:Yeah it is pretty long... did you try it in RealPlayer or the web browser?

I opened real player, then went download video, which opened up the services browser. Pasted in the url and clicked go, it downloaded the RAM file and sent it to Real player, which then complained cos it didnt understand the video.

I don't have Real player on my computer, so I can't find any feeds, but something like BBC News on the standard quality setting might work, if someone can find the URL.

Could try opening that address in the web browser - as this is the way it works when you watch stuff via Orb which is essentially the same thing. Not that I would imagine it would make a lot of difference.

Na, I think I did what you said, but it seemed to open it in a Services branded Real Player, doing exactly the same as above. Like the Flash clips, you cannot open them directly in your browser.
