N3250 problem- USB cable

Hiya,

I was wondering if anyone can help.

I have used the USB cable a few times to upload music etc. But it has now decided to not work!! I tried another cable which didn't work and tried another nokia phone to check if was a computer/PC Suite problem but it worked ok.

Anyone got any ideas?

My phone's no longer under guarantee so would be cool if there was a way for me to sort it out myself!

Are u using the CA-53 that came with the box...?
Well I've faced every weird thing in the book with Nokia phones..so let me try to help you..

1)Try pushing the cable connector upwards..so the metal shieldind on the cable touches the pop port metal frame..this acts as ground and could cause problems if not touching properly.

2)Try to find out which version USB u have on you computer..if its ver 1.1, then it will behave pretty erratically and may stop working after sometime.This is because the device itself supports USB 2.0 and though supposed to be down-compatible..it doesn't always behave properly.The best way to find out is install the PC Suite and Cable Drivers on a computer having USB 2.0 ports and then fix the phone to the cable and the computer..and wait with your fingers crossed.

3)The cable might be faulty..try to find out if any of the pins are bent...or if the metal shielding on the connector of the cable..and also the connectors on the phone itself have become dirty..clean them and it might work again.

4)U may have to uninstall the cable drivers and reinstall them.

5)Firmware problem.

I have tried uninstalling and installing cable drivers and PC Suite.

Cable is fine- is coorect one that came with phone.

Not sure how to check whether USB is 1.1 or 2.0- can you help?

The computer does the 'ding dong' noise when USB plugged in but it does not pop up with 'Found New Hardware' and when I go to PC Suite and click 'Get Connected' it doesn't see the phone!

My advice, based on my experince, in that kind of situation is more or less, always the same. Uninstall all, Nokia related or PCSuite related. After that, with a regclean program, delete one by one, all registry entries related with PCSuite. Reboot PC. Then, install all things again, if, You don�t have a dmage cable!

even i got the same prob with USB cable...
when i connect my phone to comp usin USB cable,
sometimes it works and sometimes it shows USB not recognised..:frown:

When I connect my 3250 to PCsuite via the USB cable, PCsuite has no luck in detecting it although it does make that ding sound mentioned in one of the above posts.
I also tried putting my phone on PCsuite mode in the datra cable options when I connect it to the PC. The screen lights up a few times, saying "PCsuite mode activated" and then finally turns the phone off after not being recognized by my PC!
