Hi
Just contacted my local Nokia Service CTR enquiring about FW upgrade
They tell me that there will be a charge for this service, has anyone else been charged for the upgrade?
Not being tight just think its a cheek if Nokia are releasing the upgrades to fix problems with the phones and their service centres are charging us (well me) for the pleasure of owning a GWO phone! I know I could do the upgrade my self but
Just take it in and say the phone keeps crashing randomly.
They will most likely take it in, and update the firmware. This will free as part of the 1 year warranty. Thats what i did with my previous nokias.
ut.

thanks, might be to late as i have aready shown my hand but will give it a go!
yes it will be free if your handset is under 1 year old.
But before you travel down to the NSC... phone them up and ask them what firmware version theyre going to put on.....
I trekked down to my NSC and had mine *Updated*.... When the technician came out from the back with my phone, I turned it on, and it had the same bloody version that was on there anyway! So i had wasted 2 hours, to have my phone 'Reset'. Nice.... NOT!

Its a little known fact the Nokias have TWO-YEAR WARRANTIES. Maybe this helps 😊
(from Nokia's website):
"Warranty Period
The warranty period starts at the time of Product's original purchase by the first end-user. The Product may consist of several different parts and different parts may be covered by a different warranty period (hereinafter "Warranty Period"😉. The different Warranty Periods are:
Twenty-four (24) months for the mobile device and twelve (12) months for accessories (whether included in the mobile device sales package or sold separately) other than the consumable parts and accessories listed in (b) and (c) below;
six (6) months for the following consumable parts and accessories batteries, chargers, desk stands, headsets, cables and covers; and
ninety (90) days for the media on which any software is provided, e.g. CD-rom, memory card."
2years huh
They managed to keep that a secret for a looooong time didnt they
