Trying to convert e.g. downloaded video to work on N70.
Nokia Multimedia Player (PCSuite) is often recommended to convert to 3gp but mine only offers 3gp audio files (.amr), true tone audio files (.awp) and aac audio files (.aac). Am I missing codecs - if so, how do I get/install these?
I've also come across Videora for iPod (similar to PSPVideo9 from same people) which can create MP4 - has anyone tried this, got appropriate settings?
OK - created MP4 file with Videora/iPod. RealPlayer on N70 showed proper thumbnail but wouldn't play. Don't know if this is similar to audio codecs i.e. renaming file could help?
Anyway, then tried Super (c) by eRightSoft using settings found in their forum and worked first time (slight lipsync issue) - file size about the same. FYI, the hints in this application refer specifically to the N70's capabilities.
Additionally, this application can convert to PSP and iPod video so would be good if you have multiple devices.

Or commercial programs, like: Lonnely Cat Games - Smartvideo or Makayama - Video Converter...
Maybe can use winavi mp4/3gp/ipod/psp video converter. As its name,it can convert video files to mp4/ipod/psp directly, don't need other software. It also can convert to 3gp file. You can try trial version firstly.
u may try xilisoft video converter 3.1, i usually use it. it's easy to use and powerful. as i know, it can convert any video files except google videos.

You can use www.youtubex.com to download Youtube videos in .flv format and Super to convert to any of the other formats including PSP and iPod (think Google.video may also use .flv).
This works fine for the N70 and even has recommendations for settings - I've gone with MP4/AAC as high as (or just below) the N70's specifications allow (see Nokia link above) and either 15fps (if sourced from 60Hz/30fps e.g. US NTSC) or 12.5fps (if sourced from 50Hz/25fps e.g. European PAL/SECAM).
... and just realised that there's a tool for the Super application ( http://www.erightsoft.net/faqt.html ) to save files from YouTube, Google.Video, etc. (see http://www.erightsoft.net/KVk.html )
I guess it would work with other applications also - haven't tried it myself but looks like Youtubex i.e. paste URL and it saves to your local drive.
I use yasa 3gp video converter to convert video to 3gp mp4 video. it works very well.
