How secure is ur info with NSC??

Well, my phone had died on me the other day.
I just got my phone back from NSC. On exploring the phone (which is refurbished, apparently) i found a file. It was a sound file in recorder which i'm speculating to be the previous owner (men, women, kids voices and all). The time stamp of the file is of li'l importance here.
Now, it was ok it was just a harmless sound file. What if it were some other info?? Contact numbers, Passwords, Cards or say someother very personal conversation?? Afterall, your phone may be passed on to someone else!!

Its not an over reaction, but a serious concern for all of us. We may not be able to always delete or format our phones before we give to Nokia, like it happened to me, since mine would'nt even start up.

I know Nokia has their procedures/system of deleting, and mostly flashing the OS all phones before being given out. This might have been a oneoff case. But what's the guarantee it wont happen again?

Could it be that somebody had just tested it in the NSC ??

That is what i had thought too, but the kids voice is baffling me. Have called Nokia up, and they are really at a loss. I'm expecting a reply from them in a while. Lets see what they have to say :-?

i sold my 1st 7650 to this guy (he also has one) and when he got his firmware updated he had this MGS file on his phone, he asked me what it was, i told him that it was a game engine to play mgs games on it.

this leads me to the conclusion that the ppl at the service centres play with your phone, at least they played around with his phone, must have downloaded games to his phone wiped it and forgot to wipe the mgs LOl.

Well the Nokia Care Centre in Singapore keep information of their users or customer in secure.

I tried to ask them about my lost password and they ask for my IC and IMEI no. Just to make sure I am the authentic users. Then they will email me my resetted password. I think they have done a right job!

i reckon that these things are done for testing and damage control processes, if not, then it's strange as jyrik said and could be a cause for alarm.

Ok. Here's the update. Nokia dint call me. So i called myself. This time i was connected to the Tech dept ( erlier when i had asked they said techies cant take customer calls) Anyway... i talked to the supervisor there.. and told him what it was about. He dint have a very convincing reply. Just said, that it should not have happened, and was'nt quite sure how it happend. Went on to assure me since my phone could not restart when i gave it in, it will be flashed, hence my info is safe 😮 (Which i know)

Also, the display had dust which I mentioned while still there, and they changed the face cover with a new one. After i came home, I also saw it has a slight play of the keypad (loose on rails). So have asked him for a new replacement handset. He asked me to drop in tomorrow to pick it up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed..though 8)

But that does'nt quite put me at peace. (or am i being too paranoid?)

I'm sorry but which Nokia Care Centre you called? For my experiece with them is.. they are ok... professional in the way they handle a nasty caller (me) 8)
