Noreve Leather case for the E61

Hi,

I've just received the Noreve case for my E61: http://www.noreve.com/langue/en/product/Etui_cuir_Nokia_E61_Tradition.html

I was looking for a case that would provide good protection against shocks but also would let me easily remove the phone from the case since i don't like using a phone in its case which is why the krussel case reviewed by Steve didn't interest me. Got it for 47 euros inc. delivery from the noreve web site. You can find them for less on pixmania but after having read a countless number of horror stories about pixmania, i decided to pay a little more and get it direct from the manufacturer.

Ordered it last week and it was supposed to arrive whithin a few days. But a couple of hours after i placed my order, i received an email informing me that there would be a 7 to 10 days delay, apologizing about the delay and offering me to get a refund if i didn't want to wait. I initially asked for a refund but then decided to go on with the order after having been promised that it would be delivered mid-week this week. Got it today.

The case comes in a very nice black box with the noreve logo on it. Not that it's of any use but it gives a very good first impression. The case itself feels well done and resistant. There's a removable belt clip and the screw can also be removed so you can get a flat back if you want. The front, back and sides of the case are reinforced and should provide good enough protection against shocks although i haven't yet tried to throw the phone out of the window to test its effectiveness. There are openings on the side and bottom of the case so all the buttons and ports are easily accessible. The power button is also accessible. Because all the openings, it will probably not provide very good protection against dust or sand.

Inserting and removing the phone is fairly easy although it always presses the volume up and down buttons when you slide the phone in and out and removing the phone takes a little bit of practice since it blocks mid-way because of the raised soft keys and joystick. The case does add quite a lot of thickness to the phone so it isn't the best choice if you want to carry your phone in your jean's pocket. Once the phone is inside, it is possible to access all its function easily although, because of the case design, pressing the keys of the bottom row of the keyboard is quite difficult. There are slots for 2 credit cards and 2 memory cards too.

Overall, a fairly good case i think, certainly not the best case ever but it does the job.

I was thinking of buying this very same case in blue or red. How many more milimetres does it add to the thickness? I don't mind a little bit. Also with the back clip removed, is the surface flush or is there a bit which sticks out?

I don't have a ruler here but it roughly adds 2/3 of the thickness of the phone. If you remove the screw at the back then the back is perfectly flat apart from the magnetic button which does stick out very slightly (maybe a quarter of a milimetre or so).

I forgot to say that obviously, when the case is closed, the back isn't flat since it closes at the back.
