Can't change bluetooth name on N80

2 replies · 2,045 views · Started 30 July 2006

I am trying to change the Bluetooth name on the phone.
Firmware V 3.0617.0.6.

Connect > Bluetooth > My Phone's name = Herbs.

The new name is in on the phone, but when I scan it always sees it as NOKIA N80. This is the same on my laptop and my 6680. I've turned Bluetooth on and off and restarted the phone several times.

Has anyone seen this before?

Herbs, forgive me if it seems i'm pointing out the obvious but have you initiated a scan for new devices on your laptop or 6680? Also is there any way you can delete the entry your laptop/phone has for your N80?

On a side note, anyone know if Bluetooth names are stored against MAC addresses?

Thanks for the reply.

It seems to be the laptop (thinkpad with built in BT) remembering the MAC of the phone's bluetooth, but not bothering to look for a name change. Restarting the 6680 has made it pick up the new name.

Not a phone problem then... I'll reinstall the laptop BT or something.
