After hours of trying to get my n80 to connect to my laptops wifi cardbus i've finnaly made some headway. Ive set up an Ad-hoc connection between the two of them and finnaly they have detected each other and connected. But now when i try to use the wifi connection to browse the internet on my n80 i get a warning on the phone saying "Services: No Gateway Reply"
Everything seems good to go, the Internet connection is shared, they are both using the right WEP and what not, but im just getting problems because i dont have a router!
Any idea where to go from here?
Not that it helps but I get this error message and I have a router. Like you, it happens when I try and access the web. I've viewed it as a minor irritant becasue by continually trying to access a page I eventually get through and the page loads.
Not sure the reason why, so will watch with interest.
Well im glad you told me that. I was thinking it was most likely down to me not having a router, which is basically a gateway.
I get this message too sometimes, but seems to be when im far from my router. Not actually out of range just wouldnt have the best connection..
Just a thought im not sure..
Well my n80 is practicaly sat on my wifi cardbus so i doubt its that :P
Guess no1 else has a solution?
I've had the exact same problem, and most likely it's due to the fact that the phone is, frankly, shit. I've grown quite frustrated to N80's horrible software. Settings are far from customizable, and the phone keeps crashing. Simply put, it doesn't work the way it's supposed to.
Anyways, I can listen to internet radios (through a 3rd party, opensource, software) through my ad hoc connection, but for some bizarre reason I cannot surf the web with the built in browser. I've pretty much given up on the wlan feature, I don't use the feature even at school (where I am able to surf the web), as it's just rubbish (crashes, lockups, etc. issues).
Maybe you have the old firmware or your in the wrong web browser or you dont know what your doing..
i have the same problem too, when try to access internet using wi-fi connection, it shown "No gateway reply', i thought was because of router, after changed new one, problem still exist, called up service provider, they detected the transmission in my area was not stable, but it won't happen frequent, gotto bare with it... I have no such problem recently, in short, it was actualluy the transmission of Service Provider not stable, nothing to do with router.
