Finding contacts by first name

Hi, I'm new here, so not sure if the following problem is just me or if anybody else experiences it too:

When I go into contacts and enter in "A" to find somebody named Alex to call, the N80 lists people with last name beginning with A, followed by everybody else with first name beginning with A. Is there a way to change this order around? Thanks for the help!

nj7,

unfortuneately that doesn't seem to work, i have even tried putting the whole name into the first name box but it doesnt help matters, pain in the ar$e really hopefully it will sorted on next fw release. what i found with my 6280 which was nice that when sending a text, (if not replying) instead of having to search thru your list of contacts, you had a 'recently used' option which stored about the last 10 names of folks you have texted.....i miss that with this one : (

Strange! The menu structure for that is the same across S60 devices. i do that on N70 and 3230 and work well! Try to do a software upgrade of the phone. Last version, I think (RM-92 V 3.0617.0.6).

I was talking about the contacts menu... what you said sorts the contacts list with first name showing then last (so like "Alex Hamilton" will come up before "John Adams" in the contacts list)

But what I'm trying to do is when I type "A," for "Alex Hamilton" to show up first instead of "John Adams." In other words, get the N80 to search contacts by first name instead of last...
