Rafe and I are currently racking our brains to find a way of getting CD music onto the Eseries in any sensible form.
Requirements:
1) Must be free
2) Must be at better compression than MP3
3) Must have some kind of online CD lookup
4) Must have tags which show up on the phone in Music player (e.g. Album name)
You wouldn't have thought it was that hard, but WMA isn't supported, .ogg isn't available, AAC from iTunes (or similar) uses tags which Music player doesn't support and AAC from Nokia Music Manager works but there's no CD lookup.
Grr..... Has anyone else worked out a way of ripping CDs onto an Eseries device efficiently?

Should be one step too. You an convert to m4a and then unwrap the mp4 file to aac but that's an extra step.
I don't mind an extra step or two as long as they're simple. It's no good cooking up something workable but tricky as the masses won't be able to cope with it.....

I guess that the answer is OggPlay. It's out with Beta Testers I gather (of which I wasn't selected!) so it must be heading that way, no?
On Steve's 3Lib advice in the past I've always worked with CDex and though tricky at first to understand how to use it and get all the settings sorted (which maybe the masses would not persevere with) it seemed to do the job in the end quite nicely.
As I said in the other thread, it seems absurd that Nokia just didn't include support for WMA.
Willing to help test or try out ideas if needed. I have a 61 & 70.

What you can do is rip the files from a CD using dbPowerAmp and then unpackage the m4a files. I'll do a write up on this. It's free, but does involve a bit of intial set up.
and yes Oggplay would solve a number of issues!
I'll look forward to your write up - and in the meantime download and have a play with dbpoweramp. Thanks.
