Hello from Cape Town
I posted this a few days ago on the N71 forum, and got no response, so I'm hoping someone will read it here and be able to help:
This is my first post so please excuse my ignorance. I have used Psions for a long time (3a/3c/Revo/S5/etc) and I want to find a phone that will replace what my current Psion does - I use it mainly for a large database of Contacts. Is there an application available for the N71/Series 60, which would allow me to search the database for a text string? All the phones I've ever had only search for the name, but I often need to search for something I wrote in the "Notes" field, for example.
Any help would be appreciated.

Murray Anderson.
Not available yet for S60 3rd Ed. devices like the N71, but you could ask the developer if there is going to be one...

Nokia line of communicators are the continuation of PSION, not S60... But, for some tasks they rest well behind. So if You want to replace the 5mx, You gonna lose something in the way!
Thanks for the advice.
I had hoped I could find a phone that would replace my Psion, and also have all the fun things like a reasonable camera, and mp3 playback, which Psions don't have...Perhaps I need to wait a bit longer.
I did email the developer of Mobile Search, and he confirmed that it will work on S60 3rd edition.

Milestones,
There isn't anything in the Symbian world yet which does everything you want. The nearest devices are the HTC Universal (marketed as the O2 XDA Exec, T-Mobile MDA Pro, iMate JasJar, Qtek 9000) and HTC TyTN (marketed sim-free under it's own name but also shortly to be available from Orange, T-Mobile, and Vodafone).
Both those devices run Windows Mobile but both are decent PDAs with good MP3, reasonable camera and 3G wireless connectivity. Unfortunately they are both quite large (although smaller than the Nokia 9500).
I use the Universal as my business PDA and main mobile internet access and a Nokia N73 as my personal/weekend phone.
