Unable to connect 7610 to PC Suite 6.8

I just purchased a new 7610 yesterday and installed pc suite 6.8 on my pc. but it just wouldnt connect to my phone. I have installed/uninstalled PC Suite 6.8 at least 20 times. i get the following message everytime i try to connect to the 7610 - "Connection to Nokia PC Suite failed. Please reinstall Nokia PC Suite. (Code: Init IMediaControl2)". I've tried this over a cable connection and even a blue tooth connection.

i have scoured the forums and tried installing with Norton disabled, registering the msxml3.dll (regsvr32 C:\WINNT\system32\msxml3.dll), rebooting, completely uninstalling, trying to connect via bluetooth (as a last resort), and so forth. XP picks up the hardware no problem so it recognizes the phone. is there anywhere to get an older version of the software if this cannot get straightened out? thanks in advance

Assure your self, that You have the last version - Nokia Site - Support Pages. Then, remove all things related with Nokia PCSuite. Use a reg clean program, and clean all entries related. Reboot PC. Then install the very last version. Sometimes the first installation provokes errors. Do one more time and try!
