Transfer preinstalled Sudoku to phone memory?

17 replies · 6,308 views · Started 08 August 2006

Hi,

Is there any way to transfer the Sudoku game preinstalled by Nokia on the supplied memory card to the phone's memory? I want to have the game and use a larger memory card.

If transfers are not possible, where can I get the installation file for the game (by M Bounce Ltd, ver. 1.27)? I tried their website, but they only have one freebie that is not a 3rd Ed. compatible game (NumberPuzzle).

Thanks,
/torrmundi

I just stuck the 128MB card in my laptop and copied the contents to the HD and then to my shiny new 2GB card. Works fine. I suppose you could copy them to the 'phone memory using Nokia PC Suite...

Oh, BTW, be sure to copy the hidden files, too.

I have the same problem as torrmundi, and was wondering how you managed to put the game files back in the /RESOURCE/APPS folder? The phone always gives me an error message when I try to copy them back. I have managed to get Sudoku out of the 128mb card (3 files, none of them .sis or .sisx), but I can't get it back to the phone or my new memory card. Any ideas?

Hi,

On the french version of the N80 I didn't find any Sudoku games. Could you please tell me where it's located ?

Thanks!

Hm, ok. Well I don't know if I can help because I'm not sure that I understand the cause of your problem but here goes...

Assuming that your game works ok when the old card is inserted, essentially what you want to do is make a perfect replica of your 128MB card in your new card. Same files, same folders - absolutely no changes. This includes any hidden files or folders. So the first step is to put your old card into a laptop and open it up. Make sure your folder settings are such that you can view hidden files.

Create a folder somewhere handy on your computer (say, your desktop) and simply select all the files and folders in your memory card and either copy and paste them or drag and drop them into your newly-created folder.

Now remove the old card and stick the new card into you laptop (or PC or whatever). There may well be a couple of files or folders on this card already. Get rid of them. You want a completely clean slate.

Now just reverse the process. Either copy and paste or drag and drop everything over to your new card. Once the transfer is complete, remove the card from your computer, put it into your 'phone and everything should work just as it did before (except that now you have a lot more free space).

Now let's say you're not in a position to get rid of everything on the new card... I was able to copy the Sudoku files (all three of them) from the folder I'd created on my desktop to the relevant folder (/RESOURCE/APPS) on the memory card, just by opening Nokia PC Suite, opening the relevant folders on both the desktop and the memory card, and dragging and dropping the files.

I haven't tried copying the files to the 'phone, yet.

Bounce?! I didnt know it was available.. didnt come on my Vodafone branded N80. Neither did sudoku.

Anyone got setup files?

I dont think that is possible, because of programs adress. They must be in an card, but could be oa bigger one!

I was able make the transfer to another memory card by searching for "sudoku" on the old card, and transferring all the folders containing those found files. In my case, it was:
/private/20000c11
/private/10003a3f
/private/10202dce
/resource
/sys/bin

This means you do not have to start with a blank card!

Awesome find! Thank you very much!

has anyone got the above download to work on there memory cards?

I put it on my main 1gb card, and it started installing, got to 100%, then says cant install.

Tried copying all the folders to the Nokia 128mb card, and when put in, it does nothing... any ideas?

i coppied the files to the correct place on the memory card using a card reader with view hidden folders for the private folder etc.

when i popped the memory card back in it installed sudoku but failed for air album :/

just wondering, the person who copied all these files and uploaded them, has it copied all of his/her installed programs?
By which I mean is air album something unrelated to Sudoku? or is it just thats the structure of installed sudoku?
love to have this on my phone

Air Album is unrelated to Sudoku. It is another pre-installed program that is similar in function to iTunes, that is, a client application for an online music purchasing & downloading site. I've not used it, so I won't comment any further.
