Phone Tariff usage...

Hi, all,

I'm not sure if this is the forum for this question, but I've just got my shiny new n93, and I'm itching to get to use all the cool stuff that it's capable of!

I got the phone on the TV500 tariff from Vodafone, but I don't know how to access the wonders of online TV, and can't even seem to access the internet properly!

Can anyone tell me how to do any of these things without having to phone up and speak to someone in Tech Support at Vodafone (which I REALLY don't wanna do...!)

Thanks in advance! 😊

Did the phone not come preconfigured with TV? Well evidently not.

Your best bet may be the Vodafine Live portal. If you get onto this (use the services browser and the deafult vodafone access point) you will probably find details of the TV stuff.

Not sure what you mean by not being able to access the internet. What happens when you start web or services? Bear in mind you need to use the right access point (this is set in Options -> Settings in both Web and Service). Looks for the one that says Internet GPRS or similar (i.e. not MMS etc.).

Thanks for the reply, man.

No, it didn't come configured (or branded, for that matter - my normal Vodafone phones generally have the Vodafone logo printed on them!)

When I use the "SERVICES" menu item, the page that boots up looks like a WAP page rather than a 3G web-page...

Any ideas?

Is that direct from vodafone or did you get it elsewhere and where from if you did get it somewhere else? Need to know 😊

I got it from Expansys, but it seems this may not be an official Vodafone one - none of the stuff I asked for (mobile TV etc) is actually on the phone, and I can't even use 3G to surf with! :frown:

I suspect none of the Nokia N93 phones are supported by any of the network providers at the moment, as they've not finished testing...

I suspect this is why we've had to wait so long.. All the current dealers are doing is shipping a "sim free" phone and signing you up to a contract seperately..

Mine arrived today from foneshop on ORange....

Box didnt didnt mention Orange whatsoever...

Had a small envelope with an orange simcard that was it !

To activate 3G the phone needs to be in "Dual Mode" Mine was *not* set to this by default when i got it.

Go to Tools-Settings-Network-Operating Mode-Set to dual mode

The phone will then reboot and you should be able to use 3G now!

"unless" you get a phone from www.foneplanet.com they have been flogging 2g sim's in the N93's... hoping people will hold out past the 7 day return period..

I didnt think there was any difference between sims. Certainly wasnt with Virgin anyway my original SIM from them back in 2001 ie before 3G was available worked fine on 3G.
