I have just bought a used 2002 MINI which looks to have a CARK 126 kit (not sure though) installed going through the car speakers etc. I have used my old 6100 phone with great results. However, I have replaced the cradle with the CR-47 for my new E61 phone, but the kit is not compatible so the phone only charges but does not make calls through the speakers and microphone etc.
I think the solution is to replace the handsfree control unit with the CK-7W handsfree unit HF-5. I'm not bothered at this stage about hooking up the remote control that comes with the CK-7W.
The CARK 126 handsfree unit doesn't look to be attached to the interior of the car so it must be behind the CD player. Is this likely and could I put the HF-5 there too (bluetooth may not work but I only want to use the Pop-Port)?
Will this work? Does anyone have any tips?
And... will my Route 66 sat nav on the E61 give instructions through the car speakers when connected in the CR-47?
Or perhaps wait for the CK-20W!?
Thanks.
This is on Nokia's website on the holder CR-47 - "Complements the design of your Nokia E61 phone. It supports charging of the phone's battery and features an integrated antenna coupler, allowing a connection to an external antenna". I would take it to mean that it cannot be used with the Cark 126 or at least using a cable connection to the carkit.
Does the E-61 recognises the carkit when placed in the holder? This should be indicated by a little icon of a car. From my experience using the Cark 126 this should be the case. I have used Nokia 6110, 6230 & 7250 phones with this kit. A friend has tried his Nokia E-70 with my carkit but with the cable directly plugged in the phone, and it worked perfectly. My kit is not connected to the radio system but independly. Perhaps your carkit may not be a Nokia Cark126 but some OEM.
I hope this has been of some help.
Thanks ajeet.
The car kit icon does appear on the E61. I think I'm going to need to replace the handsfree unit with the CK-7W one so that the E61 goes through the car audio system.
Does anyone know of any issues when doing this?
