i have had this phone for 8 days now and i cant see why people r getting all angry !!

THE BATERY LIFE ISNT GUNNA LAST FOR WEEKS!!! ITS A BATERY IN A SMART PHONE! I DNO WAT U PEOPLE R EXPECTING HERE!
ive bin messing around with most of the aplications on the phone as im testing it out to see wether i want to comit myself for 18months withit, and the batery has been fine! the shortest time it took to drain was a day but i was using all of the aplications emensely. the average i need to charge it is every 2days!

this phone may not be gods gift of mobile technology, but its damn close to being it. all phones have their flaws!

the camera is gr8 and the editing features are superb. i was suprised to see them on a phone. the main problem is in dark lighting conditions but apart from tht A*

i admit the slider isnt gr8 but this isnt a major problem and can b easily overcum with a little brainwork!

also the wifi web browers is a joy! and simple to set-up once u know what ya doin!

all in all this phone has its flaws but the positives outway the negatives massivley here!

cheers

Hi rouseinthehouse

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for input,

I dont think too many people here are really ginving the N80 a bad time, we all know its got great features and has great potential, I myself and several other members here have said that we are happy with the N80, apart from a few problems with it, mostly what you have mentioned yourself.

The gripe with the battery is that Nokia have designed a power hungry smartphone, and the people who are going to use it and fork out alot of money for it are going to want to use its functions quite often, with this in mind Nokia should have released the phone with a battery with a bigger capacity that is suitable for the phone to be used with reasonable smartphone usage, and still have a reasonably good standby time, many times my phone as died in the evening, Nokia have several batteries that are more powerfull and not that much bigger and I think could have designed the phone with those batteries in mind, albeit the phone would probably be a little bigger.

For a 3 megapixel camera I wouldnt say its great in daylight, but its acceptable, but the big problem comes at night, indoors or in low light when the camera, and video recording is quite basically unusable, I tried taking photo's and video last night in a bar of my friends birthday and all images are basically rubbish, but the images taken in the day are acceptable.

For me the slider is ok...I can live with it, but a better latching system would I admit be better.

I dont have any problems with wifi, and the web browser is great, just wish it would remember usernames, but maybe this will be done in the next firmware.

I think the problem is that everybody has different problems with the phone so it can look quite bad, but overall I agree with you that the phone is a great little phone.

it should have had a 6280 style slider, they feel really nice, and also wait until a few weeks have passed and your phone starts to slow down and take ages to send a message you need to reset it to get the speed back, hopefully this will be fixed with the next firmware

I dont think this message spped is a problem with all phones, I have had mine for 6 weeks now and send quite a few messages every day, and never had to reset it yet ...

hmmm what firmware do you have? i have sent around 1200 text messages in the last 2 months and my phone became unbearably slow to send a message (39seconds!) but i reset it the other day and now its nice and fast again, i'll see what happens after a few months 😊

I have lates 317 firmware,

Thats an incredible amount of text messages that you send though...your fingers must be dropping off 😊..

I havent had any issues either. Its the first phone Ive been overly happy with in about 2 years (I was upgrading every 3-6 months but I wont be this time) I got the N70 for the sake of it and thought it was ok but not great. Then went to the N90, camera features were good but I dont think much of anything else. Looked very plain and was large and bulky. Plus the housing on the smaller screen cracked within 3 weeks. Got rid of it as soon as the N80 came out. VERY happy with it.
Alot of PDA phones need charging daily. I was going to get the HP 6828 so I did alot of research on it and people seemed to be charging it overnight every night and a few friends have had various other PDA phones which have been similar so I dont think the battery is too bad. I went out and bought a car charger because of the battery life on the N90, if you used the camera alot it drained in hours yet it was an imaging phone. Decided to upgrade my camera and get a phone I actually liked seeing I needed a phone after all not a bulky camera with a phone attached.
