UMA on S60

I notice that Nokia have an upcoming phone (the 6136) that is set to feature UMA (ability to use Internet connections over WiFi or Bluetooth to place phone calls and send text messages without involving the Mobile network) does anyone know of any plans for them to implement this on S60 devices?

Yes, it is a metter of time. And is better that they donne fast, therefore the Samsung, already it has models of these.

The N80 also supports UMA (I've seen it working in a Nokia demo). As far as I know other S60 devices currently do not. However it should be something that is possible to do in software.

Yes I'd heard they were using the N80 to trial UMA in the US. I'm assuming that UMA is implemented in software there. I wonder if we'll ever get production versions of the UMA software once they ship the 6136...
I'll be interested to see how the operators actually decide to implement this, I'm assuming each operator will want to run their own UNC and then charge for this service on a monthly basis. I'd like to think this wouldn't be the case but I suspect they'll want to protect their revenue on this. I could also see this meaning that we're only going to see UMA on a small number of networks in much the same way as POC is implemented at the moment, which would be a real shame...
