Cool...what is the Bluetooth GPS senser though? On the instructions it says "Switch on the Bluetooth GPS sensor so that it can be automatically coupled to the mobile phone right after installing Nav4All"
Thanks
I've been using Nav4All for a while (I tend to ignore compatibility statements from manufacturers most of the time).
It is currently freeware, however they intend to move to a monthly subscription business model once up and running.
It's not bad for the current price, but there are some issues with route settings (I'm British and I want my distances in miles and feet dammit :tongue😊 and the maps are a fair way behind.
The biggest issue I've had with it so far is that when displaying route directions it doesn't override the screensaver on the phone, so when driving you're left with voice prompts only once the screensaver's kicked in.
I've contacted their support about the last issue but just got fobbed off with "check your settings" and ignored when I explained that I had.
And for N91, too😊

ie. the GPS receiver / unit you are using
should i use bluetooth manager on the phone to pair the device before running Nav4All ? Or should I just switch on bluetooth and let N4A do the pairing?
If I pair it using the manager, it pairs fine, go to use it in N4A it sees it goes to "checking devices" then says "No bluetooth GPS sensor found" or words to that effect
EDIT : I got it to pair by using the software to create the pairing, not the phone manager.
However, I tried "where am i?" from the menu and now it isnt doing anything "waiting for GPS coordinates" and has been for ages ... is that my gps receiver? Bl**dy hope it isn't.
thanks
Laurie
EDIT EDIT EDIT : OMG im a n00b!! I just realised im in a METAL building. i checked satalite status and have NO reception so of course it aint gonna tell me where I am.
Im sorry!!!!

go straight to www.nav4all.com/install on the N80's browser. The software will start downloading and the initial install from there.

Sorry not seen this one before. On intial run it should request access to network / connectivity application and then continue the installation process.
i cant get nav4all to work with cingular grps, it works fine with wifi, but it errors on getting maps with cingular grps, has anybody else experienced this? any fixes?
Isn't there the same old error with the bluetooth-gps connection that drops? Does nav4all really have a fix (workaround) for the Nokia bluetooth bug?
update: I can now get signal from satalites but its a shame ... ive been searching some local postcodes. Can't find any in my area.
I have tried with a space and without .. no luck
The maps seem to be a little patchy near me too. My office doesn't exist on the current maps, nor does the Business Park it's based on. My house does, but then it is 60 years old 🙄
my house is on there, but not if i do postcode search. i cant do any searches with postcode
I suspect that they haven't purchased an update from Navteq in some time, as Google Maps (who also use Navteq) show much more than Nav4All.
As I've said above, it's not too bad a product for the price. The "shortest" route navigation option takes it's job seriously - a recent trip through Milton Keynes took me through a school car park to shave some distance off!
I suspect I'll wind up going with Wayfinder, subject to reviewing my GPRS bill at the end of the month..

I think i'll try wayfinder, I think I get 100kb a month free on my contract, and as I wont use it that much, it might be the way to go also.
Although TomTom on my N70 seems more tempting still.

Hi, can somebody please explain to me if you pair with a gps then is there any need to connect to the servers?
is the map for the UK already downloaded? Will it pick the info from the gps?
The reason why im asking is becasue it costs to download and if I have to download everytime I use this software then it will be relatively expsive.
Thanks

llolslim wrote:basically the GPS receiver gives the software your coordinates from satalites and the software plots that on the map.
The map is downloaded from the server as you need it meaning it will only download the surrounding area of your route/location.
Some programs (Tomtom for example) has the entire uk/europe/etc installed on the phone memory as standard, saving the requirement to download it.
Hence the price difference!
hope this makes it a little clearer

Agree. A little more. Programs like Tomtom and Route 66 may use also the Network for give more precise location when they have Wass, and use FM radio to TMC.
cbcharlie, I am also trying to use Nav4All with Cingular in the US with my E60. It seems that there is a software bug here. Another user on the My-symbian form told me that he was able to get it working with Cingular by using Birdstep's SmartRoaming application. I tried it and it does work. However, I cannot get the voice to work and I cannot change to miles (it just uses Kilometers) even though I have miles selected in the software. It works well but there are a few bugs still. You can read my review at the My-symbian forum (http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28045). Does anyone have any suggestions about the voice thing?
