Hi

Service Centre said there is new sw so I plan to go this weekend and upgrade from 1.10 to 2.00. Ill report back to people . They said this has the windows DRM software and even more bug fixes

music101

well needed... The HDD freezes a lot, the SW crashs... I began to stay tired of N91... If the HDD have a failure, cant be removed like a card... I need to change, maybe N73😎

hi music101,

Concerning the new firmware upgrade, is it available for free from any nokia service point as long as your still within the manufacters warranty period (I live in the UK)?

I've been fortunate in that my firmware is such that I don't have theme application problems or the reboot/crashing problem (well the later not as frequent as some user comments I have read). Is there a webpage that I could read which would detail the bug fix's app updates?

Many thanks

My Firmware: V1.10.030; 04-05-06; RM-43; N91 (50.01) - (obtained by *#0000#)

Hi

To be honest I have not updated it yet I just did a quick stop by and asked. I have not had a chance to get the upgrade yet. I am also using 1.10 like yourself and suspect the bulk of the people that have issues are stiill on 1.00

Themes/Wallpaper: I have the scoop on this from the technical board. The reality is that the way symbian and S60 handle "removable memory" is the reason behind people losing their themes and it going back to default. The thing is that during charging (for N91), or USB mass storage or if you remove the battery cover while power is on the HDD is "de mounted, un-mounted?..(not sure). Its like popping out an MMC. If you had a theme or wallpaper on the HDD as your active one the phone O/S doesnt look for it if the HDD has been dismounted. The only solution

a) Accept the fact that this is the way it is and simply re-select it after any of tehse scenarios

b) Put the theme of wallpaper in the phones ROM memory.

I tried it . To me now that I knwo the cause its no big deal its when something appears "weird" that you get uneasy

If I get any info on bug stuff Ill get back but the big thing for 2.00 is it supports Windoea DRM.

My N91 have problems, and is the original version!

Hi

Some people had little if any problems with 1.00 (I had a few bugs) othere had alot. If you are still on 1.00 then I recommedn going for 2.00. Just drop by the Nokia centre

I popped into my local service centre today and asked about the new version, they know nothing about it as yet. 1.10.030 is still their latest.

Same to me.:frown:

I, my name is Acidburns... and I'm an alcoholic...

Now that the intro's are done...

Im running an N91 v14.01, so alot earlier than most here...

I was having the themes issues, and had the firmware upgrade, which took me to V1.11.003.

Just spoke to my local service centre, who say their latest version is only 1.10.030... How I got the v I have, I don't know!!

Have to keep calling until they release v2... 😞

This is my umpteenth Nokia mobile, and the first one I am genuinely disappointed with, in terms of reliability. I've noticed if I try to rush the phone, it just locks up, which is kinda scary, because in an emergency, Im going to rush instinctively. The phone is going to lock up, and Im not going to be able to call for 5 minutes while it reboots...

Not good...

BTW, Im in Australia 😊

Hi

The software was just released last week and my experience in the past is that it "rolls out" as service centres download it. Also carriers are slower to roll o the new software becausethey must approve it.

To AcidBurns

I picked off another Blog that 1.10 is the same as 1.11 but they added something for France (and obviously Australia). Take a look at my helpful hints i posted a while back I suggest following them (ie turn okff keypad tones fo example). My N91 has been running great.

Also about the Themes - save them to phone ROM its something to do with the asy Symbian handles HDDs when charging, battert cover off etc

I have to pop down for 2.00.052 soon

Hey!

I was looking at another BLOG and someone found this: http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,1522,,00.html?orig=/softwareupdate

Seems Nokia has finally launched a way for people to upgrade your phone ate home!. I suspect the N91 will be added soon to the list. Maybe Ill wait a bit before going to 2.00.052 and try it!

As the poster said: ". Even if there is no new software if I manage to screw up my device somehow I can start over clean just by reflashing!!"

sweet😊

Thanks music. I was running all my themes directly from the phone ROM, however still experienced stability issues. I never had any issues with charging , it gets charged over night every night, and doesn't require reset or anything to work nicely.

Since this last weekend, I have removed all third party themes, and the system seems to be excelent again, so all issues must be theme related somehow IMO.

Excuse my ignorance, but in Aus, the N91 is WCDMA. It appears different on the us/uk websites to the one I have... Is this feature a possible cause for firmware variances?

Hi

I thinkthe firmware is basically the same. The difference is US and Europe have th elight blue device, APAC and China get the dark grey

I dont undestand... You dont have a USB cable, but the handset dont connect:con?

What on Earth has got to do with the N91 firmware. :con?

Try starting a new thread. 😉

Lolboy.
