n 73 closes apps when i do need them still running

on my nokia 6600 and nokia 6680 when you have the gallery or anther app open if you press the red button it takes you to the stand by display then if you press to go back to the gallery or the apps that you had open they are still as they where before you pressed the red button where with the N73 it closes the gallery or app is there any way a round this as if i am looking at a picture then need to make a call you have to open the gallery again then look for picture very annoying thanks Gary
