helpl n80 wont let me format memory card! — Nokia N80

it keeps saying its in use by an application, i have no applications installed, i dont know how to format it now.

Do a first format in a card reader.

i dont have a card reader, i ended up putting the minisd in my audiofox smt5600 and connecting to pc, and just deleting everything, then i finally was able to format on the n80

Your "audiovox smt5600" is a card reader, or had acts like one. Case solved!

I am getting this problem a lot too. I think it comes from when data on the memory card is used by the phone, for example if you have an image on the memory card as you phone's background, it doesn't like it. I keep getting this error with other things like when choosing 'data transfer' with USB cable, even when no other apps or backgrounds or anything are active. I think another bug may have cropped up.

I think best to keep apps etc that are in use, like full screen caller, active themes, backgrounds etc stored on phone memory

Is not really necessary, with most of phones. Usually they work well. The only one who causes preoblems is N91, but it have an HDD, and the things doesn't work exactly like on others.

ive also encountered this problem i almost planned on buying an adapter for the mini sd but then in the end i have formatted my card using my N80
all ive done is i
-restarted the phone
-after going to idle screen the "installing" dialog box will appear
-hold down the menu button to display running apps in the background
-select the "installing application" then press "c" to stop the tunning background
-this should stop the applications that run from the memory card after that you could now format your memory card with the n80.

i dunno if this works for you guys but it did really work for me
