if anybody can post these drivers somewhere, be great, there required if we want to take advantage of that "windows media player" functionaility.

Heya,

All drivers and Nokia software is released upon their site. www.nokia.com or www.nokia.co.uk I think due to this new firmware we will have to wait for them to update their site. Hence the lack of replies to this subject. Have you tried to email Nokia?
I have tried to connect my n80 to my pc as a media player device , but it always nags that my memory card is in use....
I am afraid that either I dont have the knowledge you require or that the community doesnt, and we're all sitting in the same boat.

Reposting the same question will not bring you answers
Asking Nokia might, and researching for yourself on other sites, might ultimately help us all.

Sorry I cannot be of more help.

Wareswez

reason for the repost was because i think i worded it wrong the last time, and dont think i can delete topic, but anywayz, ive been searchin all day, found the driver for N73, sadly that wont work with n80,

and about your memory card issue, i had that problem, then, i installed the theme i use to phone memory, and installed any applications that would be "always running" onto the phone memory.

thanks for your reply, I'll see if installing WMP11 helps ;]

plug ur phone in via usb, then it will ask for drivers, find the option to search for drivers at a specific location, and point to the location where the .inf file is stored.

it doesn't work for me! i've got error when installing the driver, and installation failed... i'm using WMP11 could this be the probleme? it works for you? if someone can help...thanks in advance!

Apparantly it DOES support WMP11 beta. I am using Windows XP 64 bit Edition (X64) and the driver doesn't work for me. Just says no driver found 😞

I also get a lot of 'cannot start offline mode, memory card in use by another application' messages when connecting via USB. The card is not in use by anything! Lots of fiddling like taking it out and trying other methods usually gets it to work again, v annoying.

is the theme ur using on ur memory carD? do you have something like autolock or some other application that might be running in backround on ur memory card? i moved my autolock and my themes to the phone memory, i get no problems going into offline mode anymore for the media player stuff.

also, im not sure if wmp11 works with it, but im using wmp10 no problems.

anyone tried the driver with 64 bit Windows? Not working for me, annoying because I thought drivers only needed to be written specially for 64 bit windows when they use core system components, after all, the standard Nokia cable driver works fine under 64 bit.

The driver won't work as is under Windows XP x64 as it's not "decorated" for that operating system. I tried decorating it myself but there seems to be some annoying cross over issues where by Media player only recognises undecorated drivers and Windows only installs decorated drivers. I have however found a work around...

Open the file "c:\WINDOWS\inf\wpdmtp.inf" in Notepad
Find the lines that read

;iRiver PMC
%GenericMTP.DeviceDesc%=MTP, USB\VID_1006&PID_4002
%GenericMTP.DeviceDesc%=MTP, USB\VID_1006&PID_4003

and then directly under that paste in

;Nokia N80
%GenericMTP.DeviceDesc%=MTP, USB\VID_0421&PID_04F1

Then save

You will now be able to connect your N80 and Windows will automagically install the drivers for you.

(Incidentally this makes this the first connectivity option from Nokia that actually works under Windows XP x64... wish they'd get a move on and fix up PC Suite as well)

Hope this helps

wow awesome thanks for that, works! Last time I tried to sync a device with music from media player, you couldn't choose which folder to store files in the portable device, is this still the case? Haven't got time to try now!

You say Nokia should fix PC Suite for x64, it works fine under X64 for me, does it not work for you?

Thanks again that's excellent!

Ohh you're right. Previous versions couldn't talk to the x64 Bluetooth stack. The online compatability checker still says that x64 is unsupported tho... very odd. Glad you mentioned it was working, I was still waiting for an announcement from them 😊 Thanks
