USB cable - Flash FW

1 replies · 1,771 views · Started 21 August 2006

All,

Been trying to flash my N80 to the new release FW, follow all the instructions on Reaper & Dogtag. But I get the same error 'changing mode operation fail...', see attachment. It occurs in Phoenix, I can't change operation mode from RFclient to Normal as in sample.

I recalled a post mentioning to use a specific type of USB data cable, can't seem to search for it now. I have the cable that came with the phone, CA-53. Will this work for flashing?

I'm in USA, bought phone in Europe:
V 3.0617.0.6
03-05-2006
RM-92
N80 (01)

Thanks to a wonderful forum.

Yes the cable should work (it did for me).

Some people are finding that they need to leave their SIM card in the phone for it to do the change mode successfully. There's a note about it on the dogtoe instructions and someone's encountered it here - check the big firmware post for their experience.
