I went from 3 to 5 successfully but my N70 was never locked to any network - bought SIM Free. You could just try again, couldn't you?

Tim

I've upgraded 2 N70's already with the Software updater and i had no problems at all. I updated from the 3 to 5 like a breeze. The only noticeable thing you can see is the change in the music player.

Thanks Tim, I had the same Windows error message when I tried to update my N80 and realized Norton Internet Security was still running, so I turned it off and the Nokia Software Update software started without any problem. It's now updating the firmware from 3.0617.0.6 to 4.0623.0.42.Yay!

i have the n95 8gb model and after a few days i got a problem with the phone, i took it to nokia and they wiped the vodafone software and updated the firmware to v15, this didnt solve the problem, cos it turned out to be the card, but im a lot happier having all that crap from vodafone taken away.i did see that the technician was using the phonex software. but looks like we cant download it ourselves.
