hello there

I'm from Mexico and even when the phone is not yet available in my country, I got it from a friend that lives in Holland.

the phone was originally unlocked and to configurate it I just chose phone settings, country, operator (it gave me two options), and clicked on "telcel", which is my phone company

well, everything was ok...the phone got connected to telcel and quickly downloaded everything I needed

just a few days later I realizaed I couldn't send text messages

I can receive them, and also can receive and send multimedia messages, data, video, etc.

I tried to configure the phone by opening the phone text messages options, I could see several foreign phone companies (I guess they were charged in Holland), and just add a new text message service center phone number, the one my company gave me

but nothing hapenned, so I took the phone to my company's office for assistance and they did a mess in my phone 😡

now I just can't open the text messages options because when I click on "open", the phone send me back to the menu...now I can't even see the foreign companies options because I just can't open that menu

the guy told me that he had reset the phone to its original settings, but what I think is that he, in some way, deleted that part of my menu

can somebody help me please? :frown:

Sounds you need to reflash the phone with the latest firmware in order to get it back to normal, or perhaps simply make a hard reset (search forum if you don't know how).

Anyway, just wanted to tell you that I had the same problem when my N80 was new; everything worked ok, but sms wouldn't send. The problem was that I used my old sim card from 2 years back, and according to my phone company some newer Nokias have this problem with older sim cards. They mailed me a new one and the problem was gone. Worth a shot, maybe?

hello there

I've been using my sim card for three years and my phone company only change them when they're damaged or useless

I'm gonna try and learn how to reflash my phone as you said, and if it doesn't work then I will have to ask my company to change my sim card

thanks for your help

Seems like in biginning od Setember You can do by your self the firmware upgrade for N80, with Nokia Software Update tool.
