On E61, clicking on an *.html file starts WAP browser...I want to start WEB browser

Starting the WAP browser (services) is almost always the wrong choice.

It is common to put web addresses in the phone book. They are rarely suitable for the WAP browser. Also, any other *.html files (except those expressely as bookmarks in the WEB browser directory) start the WAP browser.

Does anyone know how to get around this? Any way of tweaking Symbian? Any "open with" menu items I have not found?

My thoughts exactly.
I never received WAP-adress in my life, but tons of www-adresses..
sounds like a little job for some code wizard?

Yes it is annoying, and no there no way to fix it. In the next version of S60 web and service will likely be combined into one app - not that helps us now.

The "Services" browser is, besides a WAP browser also an HTML browser (albeit not as good as the newer "Web"😉.

In any case, "Services" is the default browser on all S60 3rd Edition based devices, and you can't change that.

Perhaps it'll change in s60 3rd Ed. Feature Pack 1 or later, but that won't benefit users of older models.

Well, I am hoping that new updates for the e61 will appear on the new Nokia Software update site. Here's the URL

BTW, on the Moto phones the Russian guys have done so many hacks that virtually everything about the phone can be changed. Oh, where are they, now?
