When I try to connect my N70 with the USB cable supplied I get this msg "USB device not recognized" I opened the Nokia connection manager but when I select "cable connection" my n70 is not found either! Bluetooth connection works fine but!
Im running v3.0546.2.3 18-11-05 RM 84 Firmware on unlocked / simfree N70.
PC Suite is 6.80.22 on a WinXP pro machine with all the latest updates.
I had a hell of a game connecting up after installing PC Suite from the N70 disk (all same specs as you are)
After trying to repair PC Suite (by reinstalling) I eventually removed it completely and
reinstalled it, but from the CD root not from the interface (not that that would make a difference).
I was asked if I wanted to upgrade to the latest version of PC Suite v6.81.13.0.
I did and have had no problems since.
It detects my N70, 6630 and my wife's 6230 without any hassle.
Remove all PCSuite . Use a regclean program, and clean all entries PCSuite related. Reboot PC. Install the last version of PCS from Nokia Site. Should work.
I tried installing PC Suite v6.81.13.0 on a freshly formatted pc with WinXpro with all latest updates and I still CANNOT CONNECT:frown:
Try to plug into another USB port or install PC Suite 6.6.16 (that's what I am using).
I have a very similar problem (these "smart" phones actually include a mind of their own im sure of it) sometimes it works first time sometimes windows just says "unrecognised USB device". Restarting both the PC and the phone fixes the problem most of the time but others i just have to wait until the next morning when the phone normally decides it'l behave itself !!
That kind of things could happen also with printers, scanners and other stuff. So with a phone, it happens!!!
can honestly say i've NEVER had this problem with anything other then my phone and its not as if i dont do my fair share of swapping USB devices around my pc's either
I got a bluetooth issue actually. I got a new pc and use the same bluetooth usb stick as I used on my previous pc and win xp pro sp2 as my OS.
I installed the software for the bluetooth with the included cd and I got the message that there is no serial port available on the N70. I was really wondered because it always worked on my other PC. The same issue with the bluetooth software from the site.
I tried it in many ways with the bluetooth software installed and always the same issue, OBEX file transfer, audio, it all works but serial function doesn't.
Select bluetooth serial port service --> search --> n70 --> service serial port not found on mobile device
