I'm looking for a way that I can send texts from my laptop via my N80 connected by bluetooth.
I know that this is possible with Nokia PC Suite, but I find it unreliable and slow. I have tried Microsoft SMS Sender but this has no link to the phone book on the phone and requires the numbers to be typed each time. I have also looked at Oxygen phone manager, but this requires an agent on the phone to be launched first, which defeats the object of texting without using the phone. I also looked at Float Mobile Agent. Which looks absolutely perfect, great app, but it's only for SE phones 😞
Does anyone know anything I can try?
Cheers.
You've tried them all, it seems. Next option: Learn to program and create your own app that behaves exactly as you wish it to. 😉
What an excellent idea. As soon as I can afford to give up work and I have finished doing up the house I'll get onto it. 😉
But seriously, there must be some others I haven't found. There are hundreds for pocket pc users...
You need a Mac :icon14:
All I do is open the built in Address Book (which of course contains the same contacts that are on my N80 thanks to iSync)
Choose a Contact, right click and choose Send SMS, type one out, click send, it goes through my phone via BT and job done. You can even set it so replies show up on the Mac too 😃
Have you got a spare one?
No lol, but you'd love one once you got used to OSX
