Nokia N80, o2 and Sat Nav. Heeeelp!!

Could anyone explain this.

I was told by Route66 that the updated firmware on the n80 (ver. 4.0623.0.41) would fix the bluetooth gps/connectivity problem so i went to the Nokia Service Centre for a update.
They told me that the product code on the phone (o2 network) would only allow the o2 software release to be put on the phone, but the only one available was a n earlier release.
I've spoken to the network provider (o2) to find out when it will be released but they had'nt a clue what i was talking about and Technical (a joke!!) said that the phone was not compatible with sat nav (ha,ha).
Can anyone help me with this issue.I know people have been flashing there own phones but this will of corse void the warranty.

Thanks Gary.

I can't give you a definate answer, but when I upgraded my Orange branded handset to v4 whatever it is, it did tell me that the product code was different. I just ignored the warning and it was fine.

I'm sure someone else will confirm that.

Gary -

It might pay you to hang on for a couple of weeks. My understanding is that Nokia's Software Updater tool will include support for the N80 at some point during September, enabling you to update your firmware at home in a warranty approved fashion.

I know what you mean about O2 though - I tend to ignore them ever since they gave (and failed to meet) 4 separate dates for the N80 release. They gave me a discounted tariff for the next 12 months after I complained about all the messing around and they've only billed me correctly once out of the last 5 months lol. I'd complain about that as well but it's saving me a fortune 😊
